I organized my final data in a table format, but it was not a result of my first attempts to solve the problem by any means. First, I made a sort of chart solely calculating which days were the markers for the original Mother's babies (the 1st Generation). I counted 40 continuous days, starting from January 1st, and when I got to the 40th day after January first (which was February 9th) I started over counting from 1-40 once again. I continued on with this method to conclude that 9 cycles of descendants would occur during 365 life span, reproducing every 40 days. In addition, I also had the dates of each of the days that Generation 1 would be produced, which I found out was no use to my problem or solution. From there, I thought I could simply count the days that the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations were born, but then I came to a realization with just how many rats there would actually be. I came to the assumption that such a tactic would take a tremendous amount of time to complete and that a different, and more efficient maneuver should be perused. So I got together with…

Many years ago I watched a documentary entitled “Animal Odd Couples” which introduced me to the world of Anthrozoology. “Animal Odd Couples” was a “Nature” episode which outlined the lives of various animals who had formed interesting, cross-species relationships; Relationships that one wouldn't normally expect to find, because the idea of animals experiencing complex emotions, and forming genuine friendships could be – and for a long time was – considered taboo. In the past whenever animal welfare science had hinted at the fact that animals do experience these types of emotions, and do in fact form complex relationships that mirror our own it was considered anthropomorphism. As a student of anthropology who has a deeply seeded passion for…

    Animal Misconceptions

In relation to the initial intention of the interviews, the student responses collected in this research wholly reinforce the idea that a child’s previously grasped perceptions about animal classification can be somewhat flawed and should be subject to further instruction in order to successfully clarify common errors. The interesting aspect about these findings and misconceptions, however, is the origin from which they were developed. Some of the observed misconceptions came from the child’s own personal fabrications about classifying animals and other organisms. For example, no teacher or textbook has ever intentionally instructed that mammals are classified as such because of their ability to swim; yet, Student A was insistent that humans…

With the omission of both prokaryotes and protists, Kingdom Animalia generally contains all sorts of animal species. It is estimated that anywhere from nine to ten million exist on Earth – the exact number is not precisely known. Kingdom Animalia includes the following species: mammals, insects, birds, echinoderms, and etcetera. This paper examines the following in particular: elephants, armadillos, termites, butterflies, penguins, hummingbirds, starfishes, and sand dollars. These species not only divide upon the two the same equivalence in characteristics, setting them apart from other species, but includes the fact that all are generally eukaryotic, multicellular, heterotrophic, lack cell walls, are motile, and usually pass through a blastula stage as animals.…

The human body was created with many different parts that do all different things. God created our bodies with great detail such as our eyes, ears, even all the strands of hairs we have on our head. A map is often made to represent a specific region so that more details can be included about that particular region, making it easier to explore. Scientist have created standardized body directional terms and split the body into distinct regions and sections so that we can more clearly and rapidly locate and discuss anatomical features.…

An aquatic animal is an animal, either vertebrate or invertebrate, which lives in water for most or all of its life.[1] It may breathe air or extract its oxygen from that dissolved in water through specialised organs called gills, or directly through its skin. Natural environments and the animals that live in them can be categorized as aquatic (water) or terrestrial (land). Animals that move readily from water to land and vice versa are often referred to as amphibious.…
