As a society there is a lot of discrimination we face whether it is subconsciously or not; many discriminate against an individual or a group for many reasons. Age discrimination is a big problem in America, people choose to act a certain way toward someone because they are younger or in some cases older. Racial discrimination has been relevant and even though there was an act passed in 1975 it is still a huge problem today. Gender discrimination also is a big problem in workplaces; women are professionally have been seen getting paid less than their equal co-workers. Institutional discrimination is in the companies that have set standards due to either there own prejudice or lack of empathy for others situations. Modern times as in the last …show more content…
Age discrimination, racial discrimination, and gender discrimination are all examples of the bigotry in the workforce many experience. “University Hospitals ordered to pay nearly $1 million in age discrimination lawsuit” goes over the fact that ageism is not the way to treat people that are older or younger than their co-workers (Atassi). The workforce should not be a biased system that chooses their employees based off their age. “Where Title VII stops: Exploring Subtle Race Discrimination in the Workplace” explains how there are little subtle suggestions of discrimination in the common workplace (Ritenhouse 87-115). Although racial discrimination has gotten a lot better there are still little things that are looked past but are still evil. “For women in tech, it’s been a so-so year” one can start to understand how women’s rights are starting to take steps towards equality (Rubin). Even though the world is taking a step towards equality we are still faced with the problem of patronization toward women.
