Ac Final Monologue Reflection
These monologues challenged me by making me experience what the character is feeling and then writing it down. Up until I finished writing AC Short Write #1, I have never been put into someone else's shoes. This made me think outside the box and really think into depth about what I was writing about. The AC Final Monologue challenged me by not being able to put in stage directions in the essay. Since we performed it, you actually had to act it out instead of saying it, and I had a struggle with doing that. Overall, I had some challenges but I think it made me a stronger writer.

I learned that I am able to to write meaningful and interesting topics that I personally like. I learned that I actually liked performing my AC Final Monologue even though I was nervous. It's nice to know that when I'm writing a new assignment it's up to me and my imagination. In the past years it's always been picking a certain topic out of three options and I never liked writing because of it, none of those topics made me feel like I wanted to keep writing but that's not what happened in these past three monologues. I always liked writing since I was little and the fact that I am able to control and produce what I’m writing is so amazing. Coming home I would be excited to write new stories and finish because I knew that when I was done , I would be completely confident in what I wrote. AC Short Write #1 showed how hard I put in effort because I wanted to show people truly how life is and how we shouldn’t take it for granted. The 1st short write really hit home because a lot of people think that illegals cross the borders just because, but it’s really because they want a better future for them and their families. I worked hard in order to show that side of the story a lot of people don’t hear. I worked very hard on all

In the beginning I never really saw myself as a writer. I was first and foremost an activist in the civil rights movement in Mississippi. When I could no longer see that anything was being accomplished by our work there, I left and went North. I came back to see through my writing that no matter how hard we in the movement worked, nothing seemed to change; that we made a few visible little gains; yet at the root, things always remained the same; and that the movement was not in control of its destiny, nor did we have any means of gaining control of it. We were like an angry dog on a leash that had turned on its master. It could bark and howl and snap, and sometimes even bite, but the master was always in control. I realized that the universal fight for human rights, dignity, justice, equality, and freedom is not and should not be just the fight of the American Negro or the Indians or the Chicanos. It's the fight of every ethnic and racial minority, every suppressed and exploited person, everyone of the millions who daily suffer one or another of the indignities of the powerless and voiceless masses. And this trend of thinking is what finally brought about my involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, especially as it began to a splinter and get more narrowly nationalistic in its thinking.…

Lastly, and maybe more importantly, I learned that it is imperative to go out and travel. I could tell how important this was because when Esiquio said traveling is important, everyone shook their head in agreement. Since I have been out of the country before, I understand where they are for coming. You understand more about the country to travel to as well as yourself. You realize things you thought were once extremely important don't matter, or maybe the things that once did not matter most now. The world is a crazy placed filled with different adventures wherever you…

I began writing at the very young age of eleven. The first thing I remember writing was a heartfelt song called finished. Even though I was too young to fully understand relationships, I wrote that song as if I had experienced it myself. After I wrote my first song I began to write poetry to express my feelings. Once my mom found out about my writings, I started writing poems for different programs at our church. Throughout the years, I began to enter a variety of poetry contests. In my junior year of high school I wrote a poem about bullying and won first place. Writing is a getaway for me, it always has been and it always will be.…

I learned the definition of style, how word choice can affect your writing, how to use passive or active voice, and I now understand how to determine the structure of sentences and paragraphs. Learning all of the factors that go into style really contributed to the 1,000-word auto ethnography paper and both of the summaries I wrote. I feel like I chose words that made my writings flow smoothly, I was able to stick to either a passive voice or an active voice, and I made sure to structure my sentences and paragraphs in the most logical way possible. I was able to do this because I now understand style.…

I have always enjoyed writing; however, I have never enjoyed the process of writing as much as I do now. Entering this semester, I felt confident in my skills as a writer and did not expect to learn as much as I have. Each class, I found myself learning new skills to apply to my writing. I think the most important thing I learned this semester is that writing does not have to be a daunting task and that writing is about what one does with the knowledge he has.…

I was slouching over in my chair as I listened to my theatre teacher recite difficult words from a book written by, what he considered an old friend of his, Bill; little did I know, Bill was going to change my life forever. Competitiveness runs through my blood so when I heard the school was hosting a monologue competition I did not hesitate to sign up. To my surprise, it had to be a monologue from one of the plays written by this Bill character that my theatre teacher adored so much. I irked his plays due to the fact that they seem to be written in a different language; however, I was still persistent in continuing with the competition.…

Thinking back at myself as a writer at the beginning of the course and seeing where I am now, as far as how well I write and how my writing process has improved, has greatly improved. Writing used to be something I disliked doing with a passion. I had always had trouble getting my thoughts on to the page, and making what it is that I wanted to say sound good and flow well. I used to consider myself someone who would rather do a presentation on something rather than write an essay about it; but now, I would say I would be happy to do either.…

Everyone isn't perfect, nor is their writing. Reflecting on what kind of writer I think I am is harder than I expected it to be. It's because I don't want writing to have to do with my future career. I don't plan on becoming a journalist. I am just an average writer. When I write papers, I don't try to exceed the standard of writing more than the required length, simply because I don't want to. In high school, it seemed that the teachers were more concerned about the length of the essay, rather than the content that it held. Students would ramble on and on to make their paper as long as they could because they knew that they would get a good grade. I on the other hand would just write enough to finish the assignment.…

It all started when I was just a little kid. I began learning how to speak and use our language. I watched learning videos teaching me how to talk properly and use different words. Once I reached first grade, we began writing very simple sentences and learning the basics of writing. By the time I reached Elementary school, we learned about the sentence structure and we began making more complex sentences. We also started writing paragraphs and short essays. When I reached Middle school, we began writing longer essays and we learned how to write in more detail. We started learning more advanced vocabulary and different styles of writing. We learned mostly about fiction, non-fiction, and persuasive essays. In my freshman and sophomore year in high school, we discussed the other types of writing such as poetry, persuasive essays, letters, opinion papers, and speeches. We wrote an exceptional amount of poetry and opinion essays last year in literature. Now I am beginning my junior year in high school and we are writing very long essays that are more descriptive. We are going to learn about rhetorical strategies and techniques. We will also learn more about expository and analytical writing. This is the very long process that I have gone through to become the writer that I am today. Now I will discuss my growth and experience as a writer.…

On the school’s stage I was hosting a school event. I was asked to give a short speech about children’s first experience in a palace away from their mothers love. I wrote the speech with my own words and emotions, I felt that I left an impact on the audience when I saw their tears of joy and sadness. Since that day I realized the significant power of writing. Using my pen, I turned my thoughts into letters, words, sentences. I was not a professional writer since I was a 12-year old. As a child I wrote stories with my imagination, stories about happiness and the happily ever after endings.…
