8, 000 Foot Soldiers: The Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta Warriors are a group of 8,000 foot soldiers, 130 chariots and 720 horses made in 210 BC. This great clay army was found in 1974 by local farmers in the Ling Ton District reporting that when they found a single model, “like a statue in a temple”. To make sure the warriors stay intact over time builders used a special process called “Firing” (Poking holes in the models to to spread the heat evenly over the Terracotta when in the kiln.) All of these soldiers have different: uniforms, faces, hairstyles and have an average height of 175 centimetres tall.
