Today I want to express my appreciation to you. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the impact you made on me this high school year. Up to this day I can still remember the first day I met you. I knew me and you were going to become close. I’m happy that you were my counselor and it is a for sure thing that I would not forget about you because of you, you made it possible for me to finish up my classes. With all the crazy talks, and serious talks that we have had, I have taken them to account and have them to remember. You were the only counselor I’ve ever had that actually paid attention to what I need in able to finish. I also want to thank you for putting me in my place when I needed to be place. I know I can be a handful but thank you for not shutting me down. Thank you for helping me with my classes and motivating me that I can be able to do something if I put my mind to it. Like you say, “Never doubt yourself and Never say what you can’t do if you haven’t tried.” As I go to live my life, go on to college, and get a job I will always remember what you have told me. I want to let you know that I take you as a second mom. I love you with all of my heart and I’ll be back to visit you. Sincerely, Eve

“To David, About his Education” by Howard Nemerov, explains that education isn’t always as important as you think. Nemerov supports the fact that outside knowledge and experience are far greater amenities then education alone. Nemerov advocates his theme by using literary devices such as verbal irony and tone. Nemerov mocks the way children are traditionally taught by using the devices for sarcasm to balance the pretend seriousness he conveys in the poem. For example Nemerov states, “The world is full of mostly invisible things… to find them out, things like how many times Byron goes into Texas… you have to go to school and study books.”…

First of all, you were probably the funniest/most entertaining teacher I have ever had throughout my elementary and secondary education. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to your class. You made learning lots of fun. Your students became apart of your lectures so many times it was like we was living the history you were teaching. You have a lot of passion for your job, teaching us and personally made me want to give the same amount of effort…

Thank you for your teaching skills and for the enthusiastic environment that you created in the seminar. Without your excellent skills and knowledge, those classes would be impossible. I am very grateful for your support, for your kindness, and for your patience (some time I was asking too much, maybe). Although I know that this is not our last meeting but it sounds like it is.…

In Time and Tide by Tim Winton, and Martin and the Hand Grenade by John Foulcher, a range of complex ideas and techniques are used to create an atmosphere of inner conflict, and physical conflicts that can arise as a result. Winton looks at the conflicts of wasteful human use of the ocean to further their own economic wants and needs, and in extension the effect that this has on him. Foulcher explores the effect that conflict within a classroom can have on the students involved, and in the composer himself. While both are set in different times and places, both composers similarly conclude that the effects of human beings on their surrounding can lead to change and growth, in both the texts and the responders.…

As it stands right now, I am faced with a dilemma based on the methods in which I have taught in the past, and the new methods in which I feel are more suited for todays learning environment. Our social and educational community is divided on whether traditional or more modern methods of teaching are more successful. In my opinion, every method in teaching is the same. They deliver a message to the students and are generally retained and modified for their use. With this being said, there are obviously pros and cons to either approach to instruction.…

I am not in the classroom so I will be “teaching” my lessons at the high school where I did my field experience observation. This high school is Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High located in Dade county. The class I will be teaching consists of twelfth-grade British Literature honor students. The classroom contains both 11 girls and boys and there are two students who are not English proficient; they operate at a B-proficiency level. My unit will be focused around the short story, The Horse Dealer’s Daughter by D.H. Lawrence. I will be using this extraordinary piece of literature to aid the students in analyzing literature in the years to come. My three lessons will be based off of this short story. I will use this short story to help the students understand and define dynamic characters, to assist them in finding sensory imagery, symbols, and metaphors that speak to the creation of the setting, and to finally aid them in discussing ideology and how it relates to the modern day.…

The audience gains a greater understanding and appreciation of the consequences and societal issues presented through the author’s texts of changing perspectives. This greater understanding is represented by a wide range of language techniques showing the quality of a change of perspective in life. In the short story ‘Forgotten Jelly’ by Megan Jacobson, it demonstrates how an individual understands the consequences and issues while time progresses, which in turn leads to a change of perspective. Likewise, in the poem ‘Mending Wall’ by Robert Frost, we observe how, as the characters develop, they understand and gradually learn more about the perspective of others and eventually leading to a change of their previous views.…

Coach Carter quoted “You have to be a great follower before you can ever lead”. This can mean many things but to me, it means that in order for you to be able to step up to leading, you must first learn how to follow. From Coach Carter’s message, I can learn that before trying to become a great leader, I first have to be a great follower. Without being a great educator, I have to be a great learner.…
