Reflection is the personal examination of your own thoughts and actions, it is about thinking things over. Reflection is an important human activity in which people recapture their experience, think about it, mull over and evaluate it. When working in an adult care setting this means being conscious about how you interact with colleagues, your clients and the environment. It means thinking about how you could have done something differently, what you did well, what you could have done better, how could you improve what you did. It also means reflecting on your own values, beliefs and experiences which shape your thoughts and ideas. I am responsible for providing an equal, non discriminatory and inclusive service to all individuals no matter what a person’s personal beliefs and values may be. Reflective practice is exploring why and how you practice, thinking back over a situation or activity and then developing a different approach to gain insight into a new way of learning.…

Firstly, I am going to discuss the different services available to older people in health and social care. There are many services available for the older people and some of them include; Activities for Older People, Adult Protection, Community Transport, Home Care, Luncheon Clubs, Residential Care and Travel Passes. All of these services are all beneficial towards the elderly. Firstly 'activities for older people' consists of a group of social workers that provide support and assistance in many ways. Tasks can include befriending, visiting, sitting, shopping and driving or any practical task which could help an individual enhance their daily living. This service will increase the individual confidence and self-esteem because they know that these professionals are here to help and encourage them in a positive way. Beyond that, it provides enlightenment in times when medicine is inept. If I must be scrupulous I hope that the book postulates on the future directions on aging and provide concrete examples of how society can work towards it, perhaps this issue can be recognized as a worldwide initiative or mark advance medical directives as compulsory. As Gawande suggests, we need to take a courageous stance to seek the truth in our medical situation and to be critical of what is significant in our lives. Most crucially, what should be done to instill the philosophy of assisted care so that people can see such form of care in a positive light, especially in Asia countries. With that, it could lessen the negative connotations on how the elders perceive themselves in the assisted facilities. It is significantly important for professionals to be a better listener so they can understand patient’s…

Reflection is an important tool for all health care practitioners. It can improve our skills and help us understand the choices we make while in practice. Williams (2001) states that “Reflective learning involves assessment and re-assessment of assumptions and critical reflection occurs whenever underlying premises are being questioned”. Critically reflecting on events we experience will continually add to our understanding and knowledge base. “Reflection makes the practitioner mindful of their practice, encouraging analysis and increasing self-awareness in relation to our own skills, knowledge and emotions”. reflection on team work

In this essay I am going to reflect on my experience working as part of a team and the preparation on an oral presentation I had to do in class with people from different courses, as part of the Foundations for Practice in Health and Social Care module. Reflection is educational and is used as a means of self-knowledge and to develop using a process of feeling and learning by thinking about what happened and what could have been done differently. (Rolfe, 2011, p.8-12) I will be using the Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle to do this. In this model there are 6 different stages to look at to help structure reflection, the description of the event, your feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan. There is more than one model and ways to look at reflection, learning about practice and learning about our self. One definition is “Reflection is not primarily a technology to produce better patient outcomes. Reflection is essentially about personal growth” (Johns, 2004, p.44)…

In this assignment, I need to reflect on the situation that taken place duringmy clinical placement to develop and utilise my interpersonal skills in order tomaintain the therapeutic relationships with my patient. In this reflection, I amgoing to use Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle. This model is a recognisedframework for my reflection. Gibbs (1988) consists of six stages to complete onecycle which is able to improve my nursing practice continuously and learningfrom the experience for better practice in the future. The cycle starts with adescription of the situation, next is to analysis of the feelings, third is anevaluation of the experience, fourth stage is an analysis to make sense of theexperience, fifth stage is a conclusion of what else could I have done and finalstage is an action plan to prepare if the situation arose again (NHS, 2006). Bairdand Winter (2005, p.156) give some reasons why reflection is require in thereflective practice. They state that a reflect is to generate the practice knowledge, assist an ability to adapt new situations, develop self-esteem and satisfaction aswell as to value, develop and professionalizing practice. However, Siviter (2004,p.165) explain that reflection is about gaining self-confidence, identify when toimprove, learning from own mistakes and behaviour, looking at other peopleperspectives, being self-aware and improving the future by learning the past.In my context with the patient, it is important for me to improve thetherapeutic relationship which is the nurse-patient relationship. In the therapeuticrelationship, there is the therapeutic rapport establish from a sense of trust and amutual understanding exists between a nurse and a patient that build in a special…
