3 Idiots
Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Rancchoddas "Rancho" Shyamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) are students at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. They are room-mates in the college's hostel. While Farhan and Raju are average students from modest backgrounds, Rancho is from a rich family. Farhan wants to become a wildlife photographer, but is pursuing an engineering degree to fulfil his father's wish. Raju, on the other hand, needs to improve his family's financial situation. Rancho is a wealthy genius who studies for the sheer joy of it. His passion is for knowledge and taking apart and building machines rather than the conventional obsession of the other students with exam ranks. With his different approach Rancho incurs the wrath of college's dean, Professor Viru Sahastrabudhhe aka ViruS (Boman Irani). Rancho irritates his lecturers by giving creative and unorthodox answers, and confronts ViruS after fellow student Joy Lobo hangs himself in his dormitory room. Rancho denounces the rat race, dog-eat-dog, mindless rote learning mentality of the institution, blaming it for Lobo's death.

Threatened by Rancho's talent and free spirit, ViruS labels him an "idiot" and attempts, on a number of occasions, to destroy his friendship with Farhan and Raju, warning them and their parents to steer clear of Rancho. ViruS's model student is Chatur Ramalingam or "Silencer", (Omi Vaidya) who sees a high rank at a prestigious college as his ticket to higher social status, corporate power, and wealth. Chatur conforms to the expectations of the system. Rancho humiliates Chatur, who is awarded the honor of making a speech at an award ceremony, by substituting obscenities into the text, which has been translated into Hindi by the librarian. As expected, Chatur mindlessly memorises the speech, without noticing that anything is amiss, partly aided by his lack of knowledge on Hindi. His speech becomes the laughing stock of the

Some of the evidence that Moore offers to support his contention that America is a nation of idiots, by stating that only 11 percent of the American public bothers to read a daily newspaper, beyond the funny pages or the used car ads. This is great reflection of Moore’s attitude and style of grabbing the reader’s attention. With a little sarcasm, Moore can relate to the readers in simple terms. By calling America a “nation of idiots” is an effective way of getting us to listen. The way Moore sees it, schools use various tactics to educate its students and politicians have sued different forms of engaging the public, but the public is not interested.…

In this particular story, Michael Moore claims that the United States school system is so corrupt meaning that children are not getting the proper education that is needed. That the politicians and people of power are placing blame on the teachers and not themselves for how the school systems are being ran. In the beginning he uses what I like to call as a harsh diction of wording about the U.S. education system and then proceeds to use emotional strategy to get the reader to feel sorry for the American child who has to go through this awful school system not learning what is needed but just being pushed along in the system. I found this story quite humorous at times, but I think he could have refrained from the name calling to be able to get his point across. Later, as the story continues, his tone changes to a more relaxed demeanor stating statistics that back up his findings. I find this story effective because to me he brings up a lot of valid reasons to why Americans school system is failing our children, he states that the Congressman don’t want to take responsibility and place the blame on teachers when asked questions themselves about education could not answer correctly but they graduated from top universities with prestigious degree’s and not being able to answer high school level questions. Mr. Moore continues to give examples to why so I think the claim was…

    Idiot Nation

In this excerpt entitled “Idiot Nation”, Michael Moore details his frustration and anger at the sorry state of the United States education system and the role the US government has had to play in its downfall. So how does Moore characterize the politicians and pundits with regard to the state of the US education systems? Well, in a typical scathing rant he labels them as over privileged, ignorant idiots who have no business running the country. “An idiot leader of an idiot nation” (pg. 125 Moore 2002). This sums up the feelings Moore has towards this government and its leader, and ultimately his followers as well. A mass of uneducated idiots blurting random sports facts to each other on a daily basis, with the average spending less than 100 hours reading per year. While their President brags of his ignorance to his fellow Yale alumni. This however comes at little surprise to Moore as he astutely points out other examples of such ignorance among former US government officials. “We have quite a proud tradition of being represented by ignorant high ranking officials” (pg. 126 Moore 2002). This point serves as a marker for widespread ignorance among US politicians. The sort of ignorance that seems to filter down through the ranks and become apparent amongst the masses. Moore highlights this well as he observes that 70% of graduates from American colleges are not require to learn a foreign language, and that we as the general public believe the rest of the world should adhere to our policies and speak English. “Isn’t the rest of the world speaking English now? And if they aren’t, hadn’t all those damn foreigners better GET WITH THE PROGRAM” (pg. 128 Moore 2002).…

Stereotypes are generalizations of individuals or groups of people that may or may not be true. There are stereotypes for all different kinds of people. Most stereotypes can be offensive to the ones they are directed towards because of their lack of validity. However, we live in a world of judgment, so stereotypes will always surround us. I have fallen under the category of quite a few stereotypes. I am an easy target since I have blonde hair, I wear eyeglasses and I am Irish. Since I have blonde hair, I must be dumb. Since I have glasses, I must be a nerd. Since I am Irish, I must be an alcoholic. Of all the stereotypes that I could so easily fall into, the one that most commonly comes to my attention and annoys me the most is the dumb blonde stereotype.…

3 Idiots is a Bollywood comedy film about three friends — Farhan, Raju, and Rancho — who were taking up Engineering in one of the best engineering universities in India. Their journey was made even more exciting because of other interesting personalities such as Chatur, Prof. Viru and Pia. Prof. Viru (whom the students call “virus”) labelled the three friends as idiots (though they were not really idiots). Rancho was the smartest one who made his friends, Farhan and Raju, realized their true calling and encouraged them to follow their heart. The twist of the movie started during the graduation when Rancho was awarded as the “student of the year” then mysteriously disappeared in oblivion. After several years, Farhan and Raju with Chantur started a journey to find their friend.…

It taught me to become positive as what Rancho does. Rancho becomes the real role model of being a student. My insights in the movie in terms of ‘friendship’ Rancho puts the needs of his friends before his own needs. He was the true friends of Farhan and Raju. He touched the life of Farhan and Raju in a very deep way that he made the both to feel his true brother. My insights in term of ‘success’ is to follow excellence and success will follow. Because when you do things in a righteous way, good things will follow. And in terms of ‘education’ my insights is learning should be fun, exciting, and inspiring. And pursuing one’s passion is not easy. We’ll encounter so many setbacks. Always remember, when a problem bugs you, put your hand in your heart and say “All is…

However, this different approach is sneered upon by the faculties, including the dean of the college, Professor Viru "Virus" Sahastrabudhhe (Boman Irani). In contrast, Virus' favorite student, Chatur "Silencer" Ramalingam, (Omi Vaidya) believes in mindless memorizing over understanding, in order to reach his goals of corporate and social status. Meanwhile, Rancho falls in love with Virus' medical student daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor) when he, Raju and Farhan accidentally crash her sister's wedding banquet to obtain a free meal, which infuriates Virus. Virus labels Rancho and his friends as "idiots" and continually attempts to break Rancho's friendship with Farhan and Raju.…

A case study (also known as a case report) is an intensive analysis of an individual unit (e.g., a person, group, or event) stressing developmental factors in relation to context. The case study is common in social sciences and life sciences. Case studies may be descriptive or explanatory. The latter type is used to explore causation in order to find underlying principles.[1][2] They may beprospective (in which criteria are established and cases fitting the criteria are included as they become available) or retrospective (in which criteria are established for selecting cases from historical records for inclusion in the study).…
