This report is written in the scope of “Fd.E 425- Food Engineering Design” course. In this project e appropriate design should be made and an offer should be given for a cold storage facility. It is desired to storage 450tons of apple for 4 month in a controlled atmosphere cold storage room.

The cost analysis’s also has been done and a feasibility report has been prepared. The results of the projected design are:

• Total Fixed Investment 553601,9 TL

• Variable cost 40492,85 TL

• Price of apple 1,10 TL/kg

SUMMARY

The main reason of this design is to calculate the total cost of a controlled atmosphere cold storage facility. Also the optimum total, fixed and variable costs should be calculated for these storage design. The controlled atmosphere storage facility should be designed in order to prevent the 450 tons of apples due to pathogens such as fungi and to well-known physiological disorders. This project has been designed for Ereğli, Konya.

Firstly the literature research was done. According to those the calculations and assumptions were made. The results and the conclusion can be listed as

• Total Fixed Investment 553601,9 TL

• Variable cost 40492,85 TL

• Price of apple 1,10 TL/kg
