Course Description This course gives students the opportunity to integrate management concepts and practices to contemporary business strategies, while discussing the theories of strategic management. This course will focus on improving management decision-making and problem-solving skills. Students will create a strategic management plan. Special emphasis is placed on business ethics, sustainability, innovation, and the legal environment of business. Week One: Strategic Overview, Ethics, and Legal Environment
Objectives 1.1 Indicate why a strategic management process is needed. 1.2 Describe the primary components of the strategic management process. 1.3 Explain the relationship of ethics, social responsibility, and corporate performance in strategic planning. Review Ch. 1–3 of Concepts in Strategic Management and Business Policy. Read this week’s Electronic Reserve Readings. Respond to weekly discussion questions. Document Learning Team Instructions Individual Strategic Management Process Paper Select classmates to be on your Learning Team. Create the Learning Team Charter. Write a 350- to 500-word paper in which you complete the following: Describe the primary components of a strategic management process, and indicate why a strategic management process is needed for a company. Research at least one company and describe the strategic management process that the company uses. th
Format your paper consistent with APA 6 Edition guidelines. Reference at least two peer reviewed sources and include an abstract with your paper. In addition, provide paragraph headings as approriate. Summary Report Please format your summary report’s main body into three categories and use subheadings as follows: 1. Review of week's events (What did I learn?) 2. Analysis of week's events: (What did I find helpful and /or frustrating?) 3. Application of week's events (What is the importance of this week's learning theories to me and my organization?) Length of Weekly Summary should range about 400 words, at minimum, and submitted to the Assignments Link on or before Monday each week. Format your paper consistent with APA 6 Edition guidelines.
