In May 2012 Motorola Mobility Inc. (MMI) was sold off to Google Inc. MMI was originally part of the Motorola, Inc. that made a name change to Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI) on January 4, 2011. Motorola Solutions Inc. is trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the MSI symbol, and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. (MMI) began their trading under the symbol MMI on January 4, 2011. Motorola Mobility Inc. is headquartered in Libertyville, Illinois, United States with geographical operations for the company extending across the USA, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This Fortune 100 Company is a primary provider of innovative mobility solutions, end-to-end broadband systems, and wireless communication devices. MMI is globally established covering more than 70 countries with company operational centers. Motorola Mobility Holdings controls two divisions, mobile devices, and home.

The Mobile Devices division provides mobile handheld products and interrelated products and services designed for mobile communications. Some of the division products are voice communications, instant data messaging, voice push-to-talk communications and video. This division is designed to deliver mobile Internet access and content, including multimedia, social networking, navigation, and other mobile applications. MMI designs, manufactures, and sells many of today’s mobile devices.

The Home division provides communication merchandise and services to wire cable business and service providers for wireline telecommunications (telco). Service providers collectively support video, voice communications, and cable data services delivery to customers. The Home division product selection includes home interactive set-top boxes, cable end-to-end digital video and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) distribution systems, broadband access infrastructure platforms and associated data and voice CPE (Motorola mobility holdings, 2012).

Motorola Holdings Inc. (MMI) is known for its research and development facilities, and robust production and manufacturing capabilities. The majority of its business is the mobile communication industry with 52% of its net sales. The USA is the majority of MMI’s mobile services segment, but 65% of mobile sales are outside the USA. Verizon, T-Mobile, China Mobile, Sprint-Nextel, and Comcast are some of the different telecommunications companies using MMI in today’s telecommunications industry (Pletz, 2011).

Today’s focus for MMI future is on developing the WiMax market that may be the next giant company cash generator. Currently MMI is searching for ways to grow its mobile applications business to put it back into a profitable state. In May 2011, MMI acquired SunUp Digital Systems, and in May 2012 Motorola Mobility Inc. was sold off to Google Inc. Google’s purchased Motorola Mobility for $40 per share, or approximately $12.5 billion. Currently Motorola Mobility and Google have opened up the China market with no conditions.

Motorola Mobility Inc. internal stakeholders are committed people serving within the organization; employees, board members, staff, executive leaders, and even volunteers for the company. The internal stakeholders want a fair and equitable benefits package with pay comparable to the company competitors, and surrounding living locations.
