“A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME”

Specific Purpose: To inform my class about one of my biggest pet peeves, the person who I will like to have dinner with and my strange quirk.

I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: Good morning everyone! Have you ever thought about what the United States of America would be like without any immigrants? Sure, we will all have different answers to this question and we are entitle to our own opinion.
B. Thesis: Today I will tell you one of my biggest pet peeves, whom I would like to have dinner with and one of my strange quirks.
C. Preview: 1. Narrow minded people. 2. One of the greatest professional body builders of all times. 3. Bananas.

II. Body
A. Narrow minded people’s point of view about immigrants in the US.
1. In my opinion the United States of America is the greatest nation in the world because of its diversity.
2. Naturalized or undocumented immigrants, they both bring value to our country.
3. Even if we talk about undocumented immigrants taking advantage of the health care system and the tax payers, my question to the narrow minded people is, will you clean toilets and scrub grease pans at your favorite restaurant for less than minimum wage?

(Transition: Now I will like to talk to you about a successful Austrian immigrant)
B. I will like to have dinner with Arnold Schwarzenegger because.
1. He was a ten year old kid who dreamed about moving from Austria to the U.S. to become a movie star.
2. With hard work and dedication he not only became a movie star but he exceeded his dreams by becoming one of the greatest professional body builders in the world, a successful business man and the Governor of the third largest state in the U.S., and one day Arnold hopes to become President of the United States.

(Transition: And now let’s talk about food)
C. I love eating Bananas with my soup.

    Big companies do not want to provide basic healthcare to their employees because it costs around $10,880 per family. In a study it was found that Americans found the price of healthcare more important than the economy and gas prices, but because of the hefty price, 46 million people in the U.S. do not have health insurance. Lou Dobbs states “ The U.S. is one of the only industrialized nations that doesn't provide healthcare to all of its citizens, yet we still spend more on it than any other country”(173). The expense of healthcare is problematic for many people, especially since many personal bankruptcies filed in the United States are from out-of-control payments for health care and treatment, like cancer patients who face out of pocket expenses of 35 thousand dollars. Some presidents have tried to address the healthcare problem like President Truman, who proposed a health insurance plan and President Nixon, who planned to establish national health insurance, but only President Johnson achieved any degree of success when he expanded coverage through Medicare and Medicaid. President Clinton also tried to fix the healthcare system, but his efforts almost ended his presidency. How can anyone be okay with this healthcare issue? Well, the elitists are okay with it because they are able to use healthcare as a bargaining chip against the middle class. Now businesses have found a way in which they would not have to worry about employees demanding healthcare, they hire illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are ideal in this situation for big businesses because they do not qualify for health benefits, but illegal immigrants without health insurance affects the taxpayers of the U.S. This is so because when immigrants require medical attention they cannot pay, the bills are sent to the government and the government pays for it with the money…
