Introduction
Most of the graduates in Malaysia are prone to purchase a car for himself or herself instead of buying a house. Many of them would think for a car than any other item. Therefore, owning a car has become the first priority for many young people in Malaysia. Owning a car definitely gives graduates a lot of convenient especially when public transport are limit. The following pages will discuss about it is necessary graduates to own a car after complete the study in Malaysia.

Pros and cons of graduates buying their own car

What makes graduates choice to purchase a vehicle which will depreciate in value over the year instead of buying a house which has the possibility of gaining capital appreciation over time? From the different mindset of youngster nowadays, they think owning a car for them is more convenient for their transportation and one of thing that is they do not want to miss class or work that should be enter on times. Furthermore, waiting for public transportation in a queue to board a bus or train that may not arrive on time and will become a hassle to many who waiting for their daily transportation; therefore to move around in the most convenient way, Malaysians have choice to acquire their own vehicle as their first asset. Moreover, reasons that graduate’s make a decision on buying their own car is the macro environment of the country and in particular of our public transportation are not good enough that compare with other country. Unfortunately, although our current public transportation system has improved but it has not reaches the level of that of a developed country. However, safety environment will also cause graduates to make this decision. Malaysians will think that own personal car will be more safety and avoid from snatching or harassment in the public transportation especially in a busy time. Graduates buying their own car will also come across a few barriers and has it disadvantages. First, they have not enough budgets for paying their car installment every month that should pay. As just graduates from school, college or even university it’s never mind that have been covered by your family, but for those who are not how they going to paid all the installment that he or she that just graduate. However, the fuel that should give for your own car will also cost you a big hole on your pocket. As I know that, the petrol has been fluctuating since 2009, it was only RM1.80 for Ron97 and RM1.75 for Ron95, and it has been skyrocketing until today was RM3.00 for Ron97 and RM1.90 for Ron95. Furthermore, if your car that came with the warrantee that can cover you are not a burden for you but what happen once this warrantee expires? It will be a fix cost for you and every service of your car. The car has to send to workshop after the certain period, or certain distance of journey to maintain the car. Main purpose is to retain the value of the car, and have a solid history to prove to future buying that you are taking reasonable steps to maintain the condition of the car. It is vital procedure to get a good price. Besides that, accidents occur from time to time. Example, scratches, dent, brake not working and tire replacement will charge from you. In addition, when graduates own their own car, the chances for paying for car park fees are unavoidable, you rather to pay a few ringgit to park your car in secure car park with bright light or free car park with in secure environment? Some will did not care for it but most of the people will afraid that their car would be stole.

According to the figure about show that 67.7% out of 65 people agree that graduates should buying himself or herself a car.
