ABSTRACT
The study aims to produce oil economically available and accessible to the people. The study specifically focuses on using lemon grass or citronella grass or cymbopogon marginatus as a mosquito repellent in ointment.
METHODOLOGY
Materials * Citronella grass * concoction set
(pot, water, stove,) * container
Procedure
1. Let the citronella grass dry. 2. Gather and prepare all your needed materials 3. Boil the dried citronella grass leaves on 2 cups of water (aprox. 240 mL) for 5 minutes. 4. Get the oil from citronella grass. 5. Pour it into a container and let it cool.
INTRODUCTION
Philippines is an endemic country for dengue and malaria. In 2007, a total of 43,938 cases of dengue were reported in the Philippines while 407 people died from the disease ("thaindiannews.com"), and currently increasing.
This problem mainly arouse from poor sanitation and personal protection, such as mosquito netting and mosquito repellents.
Commercially produced repellents are available in the market however; most that are available are very costly. The researchers aim to come up with a repellent environmentally available and accessible to the mass, to improve resistance and contact with mosquitoes. The study aims to provide alternative gathered from natural source.

Many people are affected by the increasing number of dengue cases. With all the chemicals and mosquito repellent that can be found in the market, the mosquitoes are still multiplying. The mere reason with is that mosquitoes have some kind of resistance to this chemicals that makes them immune.
The researchers think of a product that can repel the mosquitoes and at the same time, contains no chemicals. Citronella Grass has the ability of repelling mosquitoes and it doesn’t also contains chemicals. The researchers came up to the idea of producing a mosquito repellent with the use of citronella grass.
