Executive Summary
Fifty-Nine Minutes Delivery Service is a food delivery service that provides the opportunity of ordering food from outside campus to students, faculty members, the management staff and everyone else at COMSATS in only fifty-nine minutes. The main features of this service include delivery of the customer’s desired food from his/her desired food place while it is still hot and fresh. There is a big gap in the market as there are no restaurants that deliver to COMSATS as it is out of the way. Moreover, there are no food places nearby the university. Hence, students, faculty members and others at the university have no option other than eating from the cafeteria or tuck shops on campus. This service will provide students, faculty and staff with alternatives and will, consequently, accentuate their experience at COMSATS.
At the beginning, the target market will remain limited to COMSATS University. Once the business takes off, these delivery services will be rendered to neighboring educational institutes as well. The target market will initially be kept small so that it is easily manageable. Our customers at the university are pressed for time and most of them cannot go off campus, grab a bite and return to work or class in time as there are no food places in the vicinity of the university. Furthermore, students don’t always have transport readily available. This service will cater to both these needs and bring good, fresh food to the consumer which will save their time and effort.
The revenues for this business idea will be generated in the following three ways: a five percent service fee on all orders will be charged, pricing will be based on location for delivery and discounts from restaurants and other food outlets will help the service earn revenue. Location based pricing will work perfectly in this case as it will make it convenient for the service providers to make trips to far out locations as they will be paid accordingly. Consumers

Richard Penn is the president of an architectural firm. He lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and has become known throughout to community for excellent work and honesty in his business dealings. Richard believes his reputation is a fundamental part of the success of the firm. Oil was found recently in the area around Harrisburg and some geologists believed the reserves were large. A few well-respected businesspeople organized Oil Company to develop a few wells. Although some oil was being extracted, the oil corporation lacked capital to develop the oil fields to their expected potential. Richard read the geologists report and felt that it would be a good investment so he acquired 25% of the company. A short period afterwards, the price of the oil decreased sharply and the drop in foreign oil prices caused the Oil Company to be unprofitable due to its high production costs and eventually they filed bankruptcy. Due to the bankruptcy, the architectural firm noticeably decreased, and Richard felt as if that was why. Richard convinced his partner to use the accumulated earnings of the firm to repay all the creditors of Oil Company. The question to be determined is whether payments by a taxpayers firm, are deductible from repaying Oil Company’s creditors. So in determining this issue I will be looking into Sec 162, the case of Thomas H. Welch v. Helvering and William A. Thompson.…
