Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary was born into the house of Habsburg in 1830. He was the oldest of Archduke Franz Karl of Austria. After his father relinquished his crown in 1848‚ Joseph had to become Emperor at the age of 18. He was the last of the Habsburg family to rule over Austria‚ after over 750 years.
