The course provides the students with an opportunity to develop concepts, attitudes and philosophies about business and entrepreneurship. It includes understanding the requirements of establishing a new venture or managing a small business. It also addresses multiple functions within the firm emphasizing those that contrast with established firms and discusses problems and issues unique to managing small businesses. It relies strongly on a class room lecture, group discussions and case study approach to learning to equip students with knowledge and skills which they can apply to fluid and often, ambiguous, work environments. The lecture sessions are planned to utilize a lot of teaching strategies in order to expose students to innovative practices in teaching, learning and assessing management practices.


• Describe the nature and importance of entrepreneurship curriculum: concepts, approaches and styles. • Evaluate and develop the entrepreneurial thought and practices. • Explain the major entrepreneurship functions and approaches. • Analyze specific entrepreneurial cases in relation to contemporary functional areas in organizations. • Discuss the implementation of various entrepreneurship strategies and the possible outcomes in the functional areas.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the subject students should be able to understand the major concepts and current approaches to the study and practices in the functional areas of entrepreneurship; apply the various theories of entrepreneurship to particular entrepreneurial situations; understand the tasks and competencies required in the various functional areas of businesses; comprehend the range of complicating factors which prevent the study of entrepreneurship from ever becoming an exact science; and demonstrate basic competencies in the written and oral presentation of academic work.

3. Moving from idea to an entrepreneurial firm.
4. Managing and growing and entrepreneurial firm.
