Why America Is a Throw Away Society

America has introduced many opportunities and utilities to the majority of our society. Society has not learned how to make use of food and garbage properly. Most of our society is taught to throw away the things we do not use or need anymore. Giving up on us is also a way of throwing away our future. If we have an opportunity to make our life better we should learn to take advantage of it to improve our life. America has a throw away society. American society should open their eyes and learn new life skills to fix this problem together as a whole. We should learn to stop the harm we continue to have in our world and ourselves. Did you know that America throws nearly half of their food causing $165 billion dollars yearly? (http://americamagazine.org/issue/5139/article/trash-talk) Food is being wasted while many families are suffering all around the world. Knowing this doesn’t stop us from throwing food away. A way that might help us reduce the waste of food would be to buy or make a certain amount of food that we know we will finish. This is one of the main reasons why I consider America as a throw away society. Food is not the only thing society affects; we are also affected with our actions and decisions. American society is introduced with many opportunities everyday whether its; jobs, education, life skills, medical, financial, etc. Most of the people in America have the same benefits and freedom but do not take control and advantage of this reward. Many of us are happy with the things we already have, but that’s not an excuse to stop trying to improve your life. Taking these opportunities will not only improve the future but will also help improve our self as a person and a citizen. A problem we all have is that we usually tend to deny many of the one-time opportunities we are offered but fear to take it. Many in our society are scared to take a new step in their life.
