Walmart Return system
According to Meadows Donella (2008), “a system is an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way that achieves something” (p. 11). In order to maximize the system’s functions, elements in a system should be well-organized and work together perfectly. Any part of the system can affect not only the function of this part, but also influence the whole system. Only through close cooperation among all the elements, the system can be a great system. The great system that I want to introduce is Walmart’s return system in the United States.
The elements of the Walmart return system include customers, return methods, customer service department, products, computers, refunds, and store employees.
The interconnections of Walmart return system are the dissatisfaction toward the products that are brought by customers, the status of products, the Walmart return policy, refund rules. As customers feel dissatisfaction about the products they brought from Walmart stores, they will want to return it, exchange it, or repair it. At this time, they can choose return online or return in store based on Walmart’s return policy and their willingness.
Return in Stores If these customers want to return the products in stores, they will go to the customer service department in Walmart and communicate with Walmart’s employees. Then the employees will start processing the return procedures. Firstly, employees will check the status of the products according to the return policy of Walmart. If the products do not meet the standards of Walmart’s return policy, they will explain to customers and refuse the return. If the products are in line with the return policy, they will start processing the return in computer and once being approved they will refund to the customers.
