Tripadvisor Influence Consumers Decision Making
The topic of my final work would focus on how people's opinion on TripAdvisor can influence consumers' decisions in the international hotel business.

This thesis would be centered in analyzing how online word-of-mouth has progressively developed and has been able to influence consumers’ decisions when booking an international hotel for their holidays/vacations; how much users rely and trust such means and perceive their usefulness.

The current culture of the motel is not customer-centric, resulting in few online reviews and low occupancy rates. According to Anderson, there are an increasing number of customers that utilize online reviews before making a purchase. Furthermore, he found that there was a positive relationship between the cumulative impact of user reviews and the overall hotel performance (2012). Gustavo (2013) suggests that online review sites such as TripAdvisor can be a “strategic tool in the relationship with the consumer by ensuring a privileged and efficient means of communication and information management.” Although customers generally leave positive reviews for Peaceful Rest Motor Lodge, there are not enough. This may deter potential customers from booking a room.…

TripAdvisor was formed in 2000 out of the personal frustration of three people who were unable to find unbiased information on the internet regarding hotels and users’ accommodation experiences. Out of the frustration, Kaufer and his cohort set out to amalgamate users’ experiences about their travels on one site, and thus TripAdvisor was born. It is now one of the most sought-after sites for anyone who is planning a vacation, with listings of over 400,000 hotels, 90,000 attractions, and 70,000 destinations. With such a wide portfolio, it is beneficial to understand the reasons and motivations behind the company’s appeal to customers and why customers spend their time to leave reviews after their travels to the various destinations. An investigation of their success journey and the continued appeal from consumers can assist other companies to rethink how user-generated content can be effectively applied in revenue-generating activities, plus how companies can positively influence the choice making satisfaction. More so, roles are evolving and no longer are customers just passive consumers of advertisements put out by advertisers. It is not any more the prerogative of the ad agency or their…

Recently “Susan Hodapp, brand director for Marriott Hotels, Resorts, and Suites, commissioned a survey to determine business travelers’ preferences for hotels and the factors that are important in their hotel selection process” (Malhotra, 2010, p. 518). The survey consisted of 5 factors, which are room décor, room lighting, voice and data access in the room, and price of the room per night. Each factor was placed on a 7-point scale with 1= not at all important and 7=extremely important (Malhotra, 2010, p.518). Taking this data into consideration it is important to know what type of analysis market researchers should conduct.…

The internet creates an ecosystem of consumers and companies alike. Consumers’ feedback on social media sites has become a defining and yet hardly controllable part of management marketing of luxury hotels if we think of reviews and shared experiences on social networks (eWOM). Experience marketing must consider the factor that costumers are logical thinkers who make decisions by valuing and weighing the information they acquire. To further expand this, in experience marketing, we have to add an emotional approach to services too (Verissimo, 2013). Tynan et al. (2009) elaborate on this and find that the most important part of costumer experience is the interaction between the two sides – costumers and the provider of the services – since costumers not only get their experience through multisensory channels but they also respond to them. In my opinion, to understand these responses are a key to brand awareness and to the strategically use of BTL communication in luxury hotels’ marketing to differentiate it from the mass audience of social…
