Theistic Evolution
I do not wish to change anyone's beliefs about Creation or Evolution, but wrote this in defense for people who tell me I am wrong unless I believe exactly what they do. This paper is short, incomplete, and is not in-depth. I am willing to provide more information, and hear arguments from your side of the story if you find this paper unacceptable.

It is my opinion that the theories of Biblical Creationism and Evolution do not contradict each other. I believe that God gave this world a complete set of laws which are constant, unchanging, not limited to the moral laws given to us, and were as present in the beginning as they are today. I do not think that the idea of evolution takes away from the glory of God, but rather emphasizes it. I do not think it is an attempt to "explain" away the miracle God has done, for he has given us this observation in plain sight. Before giving the reasons for my belief, an assumption must be made that the Bible is meant to be interpreted instead of taken literally. Aside from the fact that there are already two different stories of creation found in the Bible (Gen 1 and Gen 2); I will support the idea of interpretation with two short examples which should be sufficient:

Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the branches" to His disciples (John 15:5). This is not to be taken literally.

PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

My faith accepts no contradictions; so again, this is an example of how the Bible was meant to be interpreted. According to the Bible, the Earth is flat. How can Young Earth Creationists accept this? They don't. Why they selectively choose to believe certain parts of the Bible and not others is beyond me. Bishop Ussher calculated 6,000 years old, and the Flood at 2348 BC by using

In “One Side Can Be Wrong,” Richard Dawkins and Jerry Coyne argue that teaching creationism along side evolution does not make sense, and that creationism has no business being in the science classes. Richard Dawkins and Jerry Coyne are evolutionary biologists at Oxford University and the University of Chicago. They published this essay in the Guardian in September 2005, seeking to appeal to middle-aged parents. They argue that creationism cannot provide any positive evidence to create a controversy and therefore should not be taught in schools to children and teenagers. On the other hand, there is a substantial amount of evidence for evolution where debate and conversation can arise.…

An argument to say that evolution and the Big Bang did not occur include, God creating the universe with seven days. In the book of Genesis nothing about an explosion was mentioned and everything was made by God. Many strong Christians chose to take this belief, ruling out any theory of the big bang and everything was created by God. An opposing belief is that the book of Genesis should not be interpreted literally. For example, how could the first two days of creation take place if there was no night and no day?…

Historic Creationism correlates with my view as a Christian that the Bible is a poetic and historically accurate accounting of how we as humans came to be in this awe- inspiring world while holding to the scientific probability that the earth is billions of years old. Philosophers, theologians and lay people have forever debated creation, and I for one, believe there is room for more than one opinion. No one will know for sure until the day Jesus returns to shed his divine light on all his believers. Only then will the mystery of creation be…

Furthermore, the Documentary Hypothesis can answer Brick’s question, as to why there are so many repetitions and contraindications in the Bible. There are four separate authors who added onto the previous authors writings and edited them, as well. For example, the book of Gen. 1: 11-12, 26, 27 stating, “Trees were created before the first human was created”, was written by the Priestly author. However, in the next chapter, Gen. 2: 4-9 it states, “The first human was created before trees were created.”, which was written by the Yahwist author. Though these authors may have not noticed the contraindications between each other, they are a read as a profound spiritual story. Therefore, the author decided to hold onto both stories and either add…

Mercy is the compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. God is one is being known for being merciful but the mercy he show in the old testament versus the new testament are vastly different. It can be seen evidently in the Old Testament in genesis four that god is merciful and forgiving versus in the New Testament depicted in Jerimiah forty four he is more relentless and unforgiving. The Old Testament depicts god as forgiving and trusting while in the New Testament he is more vengeful. His treatment of sinners changes completely whether it’s for the better or not we will never know.…

From the very beginning, the bible was based on word of mouth which can be easily stretched and distorted. It would have been easy for those in power to alter the words of the bible to what they wanted people to hear. Also, consider the location of The Garden of Eden and the Arch of the Covenant. The fact they have still been undiscovered leads the ultimate question. What elements of the bible were real and what was a figment of someoneś imagination? The extent of numerous people devoting their lives to searching for these locations and ending up with nothing makes me skeptical of what side I am on. It is difficult for myself to have faith in various stories that are misleading. How did Noah build an arch, that could hold every species of animal as well as various necessities? In the time period he was living, it would be impossible to build a boat that advanced, with the tools that were available. Although God guided him along the way, this story did not take account for the reality of the age they lived in. These flaws in the bible further my confliction to what I believe as…

Recently, new speculation has shown that mother earth may in fact not be 4.5 billion years old, as has been taught in schools for many generations. However, young earth creationist believe that the world is only approximately six thousand years old. According to the Christian Bible, if we were to follow the chronology of many of its books including Genesis, Exodus, Galatians and 1 Kings, we would gather a general timeline of when God created the universe and the Earth. No where in the Bible does anyone give an exact date; however, we can get a very close estimate and rough explanation why the earth is not 4.5 billion years old. According to evidence, it is physically impossible.…

In the Bible it clearly stated in Genesis 1 -5 how the earth was made and the order that God created things and as the Bible states He says that things were good. The scripture itself speaks of only six literal days used to create the earth. As stated by Terry Mortenson, MDiv, PhD (2011) the thoughts of a young earth creationist are as follows “Young-earth creationists believe that the creation days of Genesis 1 were six literal (24-hour) days, which occurred 6,000–12,000 years ago. They believe that about 2,300–3,300 years before Christ, the surface of the earth was radically rearranged by Noah’s…

The ones that are asking these types of questions don’t necessarily understand physics, geology or astronomy and really don’t care about all of the debates. They want a truthful simple answer. One of the most popular questions asked by skeptics is, “Does it really matter whether or not we choose to believe Young Earth Creationism to be true?” The Bible is to be read as completely true; once the authority of one piece of scripture is deemed untrue, the authority of the entirety of Scripture is lost. Genesis is the basic foundation of the Christian faith, and once it is deemed untrue, the Christian faith becomes weak at its core foundational beliefs.…

Some evolutionists advance one of several theories known as "theistic evolution." One variation of this theory states that God is the "Creator" of the universe in that He guided its evolutionary process. This idea, too, fails to measure up to the evidence. If evolution of any form were true, then the fossil record would show millions of transitional forms in every layer of geological stratum. However, no such transitional form has ever been found. This lack of scientific and paleontological evidence lends support to my conclusion that Creation is the only logical model for how the universe came into being. Suffice it to say, I believe what the Bible says about Creation is the absolute truth.…

The Bible is accepted by Christians as the world of God, and the word of God is accepted as them as being true, therefore Creationism is true in their eyes. According to the Bible, “Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us… So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female… God looked at everything he had made, and he was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came—that was the sixth day” (Gen. 1:26).…

The Bible does not acknowledge the apparent creation of dinosaurs nor does it mention evolution. Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organism are believed to have developed from earlier forms during the history of the earth - this plausible theory came from Charles Darwin a naturalist and geologist well known for his contributions to the science of evolution. I am aware some will be quick to say that evolution just like religion is also a theory but, so is gravity. I simply weight out the facts and the stories told of God creating our world in six days and come to my conclusion of which is right, plausible and realistic. Personally I do not believe an all powerful being created the entire world -population:7billion- in only six says, I cant even finish a 1300 word essay in six…
