Is Religion Just A Figment Of Imagination?

We can abolish the hypothesis that imaginary friends exist, because its ridiculous right? To accept a figment of a child's imagination is real and exists in our world is ridiculous, theres no evidence that it exists or lives among us - like God. God also has no evidence of existence, is God not just a figment of imagination?
Religion is an out-dated form of control through: fear, faith and conformity. I believe people turn to religion because they are scared, scared of the unknown and of what happens after death, they wish to feel reassured in an after life. Religions grants that reassurance. I hate to rain on your parade, but religion is ruining our already damaged society and it needs to be recognised for its impacts its having on our world: terrorism, murder and hate.
The Bible does not acknowledge the apparent creation of dinosaurs nor does it mention evolution. Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organism are believed to have developed from earlier forms during the history of the earth - this plausible theory came from Charles Darwin a naturalist and geologist well known for his contributions to the science of evolution. I am aware some will be quick to say that evolution just like religion is also a theory but, so is gravity. I simply weight out the facts and the stories told of God creating our world in six days and come to my conclusion of which is right, plausible and realistic.
