The Effects of Rape on Men and Women

In today’s society, you hear a lot about sexual assault in the media. For most of you, you will think to yourself, “wow, I couldn’t imagine that ever happening to me!” What a lot of us do not think about are the lasting effects that sexual assault has on both men and women. Rape is not something that happens and the victim forgets about; they face psychological, mental, and, emotional torment for what seems like a lifetime. Rape is a reality that can’t be escaped. However, different treatments are being used to help treat the victims and lessen the burden and torment they feel following being sexually assaulted.
