Assignment 302
Task A
Ai - What is reflective practice?
Social workers are encouraged to consider how their own construction of day-to-day life impacts on the judgements and decisions that they make in their practice. This method of working is often referred to as “reflection”.
Why is a reflective practice important?
It is important you have a level of self awareness about what you are doing and how you are doing. If you are not self aware then you won't appreciate when you are not working effectively.
How reflective practice contributes to improving the quality of service provision
If workers think about what they are doing and what they can do to make it better their work will improve and so will the service provision.
How standards can be used to help a social care worker reflect on their practice
Standards tell you how you should be working. You can use them to think about what you do and what you need to do to be a better worker.
Aii -
A) Seeking feedback is important because it gives a worker some idea of how they are working - what they are doing well and what could be improved, helping them work in the best possible way.
B) Giving feedback to individuals can be challenging but if we prepare correctly it can be a painless process. We give feedback because we want things to change, the more effort we put into it the greater the change will be, when giving feedback there may be different reactions sch as surprise or shock, anger or annoyance, resistance and acceptance.
C) Feedback informs you of the areas of your work that may need further training or a different approach and also what you are doing very well and have been praised for by a manager or service user for instance. It also gives you the opportunity to ask what to do with the feedback, say, where to gain training required and when, how to improve on certain skills.

It is very important that the organizations should provide employees with work according to their abilities and skills rather than developing skills, in employees, which suits the work of the organization because “discovering ways to attract the so called “best and brightest” is paramount to productive human resource management” (Holzer). Organizations should prevent disparities between the work of employees and their skills, from arising. Another important factor for creating a good work environment is to provide employees with regular feedback on their performance. The feedback should include both the negative and positive aspects of the employee's performance. It should not be so that only the mistakes of an employee are being pointed but good performance done by an employee should also be appreciated. Organization should take care that the delivery of the feedback is appropriate, so that the employee does not feel awful after getting a negative feedback. Areas where he/she should improve should be made clear in the feedback so that the employee can improve upon his/her skills.…

Feedback can be both formal and informal in nature. For example, formal feedback can be in a meeting and informal feedback can be between colleges asking how you were or how you did the last assignment.…
