Unit 202 – Improve own performance in a business environment

Improve own performance
(1.1–1.5)
The purpose and benefits of continuously improving my own performance at work is to exceed my actual performance, exceed my limitations, achieve personal goals, increase income, benefit from progressing my career and increase self-motivation and job satisfaction.

The benefits of encouraging and accepting feedback is to help me improve my work; learn from my mistakes and to help me feel more confident in the work that I am doing.

Feedback also helps us see ourselves from the perspective of others - to see ourselves as others see us. We learn a great deal from the feedback of others, and from past failures and mistakes.

The more I learn, the more I can do. This benefits the organization by increasing productivity. It helps me to identify gaps between my job requirements or future work roles, and my existing knowledge, understanding and skills.

The progression route from my current career will be towards a senior admin role, and then eventually a management position for a certain project or service.

After completing my Diploma at level 2 in Business and Administration, I could possibly do Level 3, try and get a job within Bucks County Council or look for jobs in various sectors where they need administrators. I will be looking for a job with a good salary package and job description, where I can best use my skills, talents and capabilities.

So by developing my skills, I can look at possible interesting careers that I might be interested in and develop my opportunities in securing a good

Take notice of feedback in all its forms – put all feedback in a curiosity frame: ask yourself how you can use it to avoid failures, or to repeat successes. Feedback can be both formal and informal in nature. For example, formal feedback can be in a meeting and informal feedback can be between colleagues asking how you were or how you did the last assignment. Ignoring feedback means you will just continue to do the same thing in the same way without improving on the way you are doing it.…
