Students and the authorities in Universiti Utara Malaysia are facing some problems of the Maxis Broadband such as the online speed of the Maxis Broadband, the stability of the connection Maxis Broadband, the packages provided by the Maxis center and the satisfaction towards the customer service provided by the Maxis center. Besides that, Maxis Broadband also brings out other problems that are mainly in the system, price, function and the convenience usage of Maxis Broadband. 1.1 Purpose Statement
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the Maxis Broadband in Universiti Utara Malaysia. 1.2 Authorization
Mr. Murugesan A/L Manickam, our lecturer of the Business Report Writing (SBLE2062) has given us the authorization to survey about the Maxis Broadband in Universiti Utara Malaysia.
2.1 Background Information of Maxis Broadband
Maxis Communications Berhad is a leading mobile phone service provider in Malaysia. It was started in the year 1995. It uses the dialling prefix identifier of "012”, "017" and “0142”. In 2002, Maxis purchased TimeCell, a rival mobile service provider, from TimedotCom Berhad. Prior to the purchase, Maxis offered phone numbers beginning with 012, and TimeCell 017. Now, subscribers can choose between the two. Maxis provide a variety of mobile communication products and services. They offer prepaid call plans, monthly subscription plans, global roaming, MMS, WAP (over both GSM and GPRS), Residential Fixed Line services, Broadband Internet plans, and as of early 2005, 3G services to both prepaid and postpaid subscription customers. Maxis Broadband make consumer can enjoy internet access in outdoor or indoor. It go online at speed over 15 times faster than traditional dial up and do more, much more over the internet. 2.2
Current Situation of Maxis Broadband
Previously, UUM hotspot was used by the students in Universiti Utara Malaysia. The slow connection problems occur when there are too many UUM students using the wireless to online. Some website has been blocked while office hours. Nowadays, due to the connection problem and the inconvenience, students in Universiti Utara Malaysia prefer to use Maxis Broadband. 3.0 Scope of Investigation
3.1 Areas to be evaluated
A study had been made to determine how the students and the authorities in Universiti Utara Malaysia choose the packages that are provided by the Maxis Broadband.

A detail study has been made on four specific areas is the major requirement to determine the effectiveness of Maxis Broadband in Universiti Utara Malaysia. 4.0 Sources of Information and Methodology Used
