Summer vs Winter
Summer Vs Winter My two favorite seasons are exactly six months apart. Of the four seasons, winter and summer are the most excellent; they incorporate the best of both worlds. Some people like winter because of the snow and Christmas, but my favorite is summer because of the warm weather. These two seasons have some bizarre similarities; for example, summer and winter both occur when the Earth is tilted into the Sun. When it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. Although winter is a very hectic and stressful season, it’s great to get together with family and friends and enjoy the spirit of the season. In the summer, I can also visit those same family and friends and enjoy activities appropriate to the weather. Each season blesses us with a major break from school; this break is incredibly important because without that relief, students can easily get burnt out of school and become too tired to do decent work and get good grades. Both breaks allow me to unwind and take it easy from the brutal punishments teachers hand down throughout each school year. The time off from school severs as a time for me to take up new opportunities as well. Winter and summer have particular sports for each season, utilizing the weather in each to make the most of recreation. Every six months is a blast because of these amazing seasons.
On the contrary, the first big difference between summer and winter is the most obvious one: the weather. In the summer time, it is usually warm and sunny and pleasurable to be outside. I can go swimming, go to the beach, sun bathe, go boating, and all of those fun summer activities everyone looks forward to. In the wintertime, most people think of coldness, but I can still find opportunities to have excitement. The activities are very different; in the winter, I can go ice skating, sledding, and skiing. In the snowy weather I hear a lot about car accidents due to the messy

Over the brief time I’ve been driving, I found there to be a drastic difference in driving in the winter and driving in the summer. The winter weather brings many dangerous conditions to contend with on the road that the summer does not. Cold, wet, freezing winters are much harder to drive in than the dryer summer months.…

were satisfied with their child’s school experiences (Shields 9). For over 100 years, most schools have adhered to a traditional summer vacation schedule which stemmed from our primitive technological resources and advancements. However, as technological growth was made schooling throughout the year became more practical and thus the concept of a year-round schedule was introduced. With year-round schedules now becoming ever more prevalent and traditional schedules becoming slowly obsolete, a debate has sparked between the merits of the two. This debate has involved comparing the different advantages and disadvantages of the two schedules. While a traditional summer vacation may…

Although summer and winter both occur when the Earth is titled toward the sun, there are very different seasons. The first and most obvious difference between summer and winter is the weather. During the summertime the days are warm and sunny. Temperatures range from 70° and above with a slight breeze, making it enjoyable to be outside. Toward the end of summer people tend to worry about hurricanes and tornadoes. On the other hand, winter days are cold and dark. There is a constant freezing chill making temperatures drop below zero. Normally there are worries about serious snow storms and blizzards. Another noticeable difference between summer and winter consist of the types of activities people participate in during the two seasons. Summer activities tend to involve being outdoors. For example people enjoy trips to the beach, family cookouts, swimming and even long walks. The sounds of kids riding their bikes and fireworks crackling can be heard throughout the days. However, in the winter people occasionally enjoy outdoors activities like sledding, ice skating and snowboarding. Generally during the winter though, people spend most of their time participating in indoor activities like watching movies, readings books, and baking sweets. For the reason that climates are drastically different during the summer and winter, these is also a huge difference in the way a person is dressed. During the summer people dress lightly, wearing simple t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, and bathing suits. Hats are typically worn to keep the sun out of people's faces. Since the temperatures are high there is no need for any extra clothing or layering. Unlike while in the winter time multiple layers are worn to keep warm. People dress in heavy sweaters, long pants, thick coats, and boots. Hats are also worn during the winter, but not to block the sun but instead to keep the heat in. Last but…

They both can cause for you to have to detour. These seasons can also cause for the streets to be ruined. These seasons can also cause for some great times because in the summer time you can get out and enjoy the sun on your skin, and your feet in the sand. So you would have to deal with traffic jams. The winter time you can also be able to enjoy it sometimes if it snows and it’s enough you can go out and build yourself a snowman, or inside watching movies and enjoying some hot cocoa. Most importantly, year-round school would cause students to be exhausted. Even with the several shorter breaks, students would probably feel that they would be constantly working and stressed. Continuing to give students a longer break would allow them to rest and come back to school strong and ready for the upcoming year. A two or three month break is important to kids because they can be rewarded for a demanding school year. Summer allows children to balance work and play, which is important. Admittedly, some may argue that summer vacation causes children to forget everything, and this causes them to have to relearn and review forgotten concepts at the start of each new year. However, in my personal experience I have noticed that myself and others forget concepts just a few weeks into break, as opposed to a couple months into break. I have also noticed that after shorter vacations such as winter/spring break, kids come back needing a refresher of what they learned. Having to review concepts once a year is exhausting enough for both teachers and students. Imagine if this had to be done several times a year! It would defeat the purposes of having year-round school…

In December kids leave school for winter break, people go on vacation to appreciate time with their kids, families celebrate Christmas, and teachers relish three weeks off. After Winter Break starts, most families go to places like Florida to be in a warm climate, California to see family, and Utah so they can ski. In Utah, I can see giant kept mountains that are so big the top is not visible and pine trees that look like giants that took over the whole mountain. If a person actually skis in Utah, they will find out that the restaurants smell like freshly cooked burgers, they will think the mountain will look like a giant painting, and they will feel the snow slowly packing up into ice. When I ski, I will normally ski for a week, and when I come home to prepare for Christmas, I immediately see a great amount of wonderful things like children, playing in the snow, snow piling up like dust, and families preparing for Christmas. During Christmas, I can hear carolers, singing holiday carols, and see families inside their house opening presents. Sometimes after Christmas, I go on vacation again due to the fact that it is getting colder, and when I take a vacation to Florida, I like the cold breeze with the warm climate and the smell of fresh ice cream that take my thoughts away from winter. The amusement parks in Florida the main reason my family travels there and it is because, during the winter there are no amusement…

I guess that the summer s the pleasantest season. At this time of the year everything is neat and clean, the days are long. In the summer the heat can be unbearable and there can be hardly a breath of air. But at this time of the year the hot sun ripens the corn and fruit. There are plenty of strawberries, cherries, currants, gooseberries, raspberries, apricots, peaches, plums and blackberries, which are ripe and afford a treat for the old and the young. And what pleasure can compare with that of watching the glorious sunrise and sunset! Yes, undoubtedly, I prefer summer to any season of the year.…
