Is driving in the winter worse than driving in the summer? In the winter, below freezing temperatures in the northern hemisphere lead to dangerous icy roads. Navigating your way around in a blizzard becomes a difficult and high-risk situation because of the frost on the windshield and the lack of visibility. The subzero temperatures commonly cause black ice, black ice is not actually black, it’s just visually transparent. This ice is highly dangerous because it will cause you to slide if driven on. After a snow storm people must wait for snowplows to plow and throw down salt before the roads become safe and accessible to drive on.
