Research Paper On After Winter Break
A Look at December

In December kids leave school for winter break, people go on vacation to appreciate time with their kids, families celebrate Christmas, and teachers relish three weeks off. After Winter Break starts, most families go to places like Florida to be in a warm climate, California to see family, and Utah so they can ski. In Utah, I can see giant kept mountains that are so big the top is not visible and pine trees that look like giants that took over the whole mountain. If a person actually skis in Utah, they will find out that the restaurants smell like freshly cooked burgers, they will think the mountain will look like a giant painting, and they will feel the snow slowly packing up into ice. When I ski, I will normally ski for a week, and when I come home to prepare for Christmas, I immediately see a great amount of wonderful things like children, playing in the snow, snow piling up like dust, and families preparing for Christmas. During Christmas, I can hear carolers, singing holiday carols, and see families inside their house opening presents. Sometimes after Christmas, I go on vacation again due to the fact that it is getting colder, and when I take a vacation to Florida, I like the cold breeze with the warm climate and the smell of fresh ice cream that take my thoughts away from winter. Winter is the last season in a year among the four. It is like a immaculate bride who has a beautiful white dress on her. But to me, winter just like a vicious witch who put magic on me and made me had a bad start in USA. My family immigrated during the winter and it brought changes in my life and my personality. It is a sign of starting new. In this new place, I have enjoyed a certain level of comfort like making new friends and seeing new things. But, every day, I still had to grapple with language difficulties, cultural gaps, and day-to-day life issues. Especially about associating with people, social aspect became one of the most challenging thing I have to conquer and it was a torturous memories. Being an immigrant teaches me deeply…

Some Sumer activities that I like to do or achieve for the school break are having fun with my friends and family and play. On really hot days we go down to the lake and play in the water or go fishing. I also like to play with my dog and go for walks with her if I'm not dragging her all the way there and back. Sometimes I do work with my dad most of the times it involves a lot of elbow grease. I love to do fun activities with my mom that does relate a little work, at the end she gets us a treat. On the days I'm not doing anything I go out with friends or they come to my house, and if I'm good we go to get air, other wise, we just watch movies and relax. On other days when we are in the garden I like to swim, maybe even play with the sprinklers and bother my brothers.…

Just kidding! For myself, the month of December brings loads of stress and guilt. One may wonder why I am stressing this topic, well let me explain. Long ago in my middle school age, I had a best friend who is no longer, but during this season I was supposedly expected to buy her gifts. Even better, I was not only “required” to purchase one gift but multiple.…

Should Portsmouth students go to school for four of five days a week? Portsmouth is a small school district in central Rhode Island. This town's council is not giving the schools enough money, so that is why there are so many budget cuts. Many of the decisions of the school system are pressured upon the school committee. This school's committee, like every school committee, has been elected to office by the parents and the town's people. Portsmouth should have a four day school week because the four day week saves money, provides extra opportunities for both parents and students, and gives students more time to get better grades.…

Would you classify yourself as a “Monday-Hater”? A vast majority of students immensely detest Monday because it signifies the end of a relaxing weekend and the beginning of another stressful, busy week. However, if a four day school week was implemented then Monday could be tagged on to the weekend and everyone would become “Tuesday-Haters”. Woodbury High School (WHS) would benefit from a switch to a four day school week because it would save District 833 money, increase student attendance, and decrease the amount of stress in students.…

When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I've researched are the Cayman Islands. I've only seen pictures and heard stories but I've already decided that's where I am getting married. I still however, don't know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand…

As seasons change, and the school year progresses, many students lose that “first day of school excitement” (I know that I do!) (parenthesis) that they once felt. So how do we regain that joy that once filled us? The answer is simple, year round school. Having school year round will enable students to expand their knowledge, decrease the time during which kids are idle when they tend to get into the most trouble, and reduce the stress levels of both teachers and students.…

Would a year-round school schedule improve students’ academic performance? There are many debates on whether schools should extend their educational calendar to a full year. While year-round school schedules have their share of benefits, there are also negative outcomes. People often claim the more the better, but what really matters is the quality, not quantity, of education. Year-round schooling should not be organized because students may develop health issues, wouldn’t be prepared for college, and students may miss out on other opportunities during the summer.…

Almost all holidays have fictional characters that represent them. Let’s start with Christmas. The absolute best part of Christmas for me was waiting to hear that big fat man in the red suit in my living room; Santa Clause of course! We would make “reindeer food” at school with oats and glitter and throw it in our yard at night. I remember so well throwing the food handful by handful saying each of the reindeer’s names as I threw it across the grass. “Here’s for you, Rudolph.” “..And this is for you Comet!” I think all kids have this image of the North Pole in their minds. I could always picture Mrs. Clause baking and all of the elves building toys up there. It makes the idea of Christmas that much more exciting.…
