Physical education
Introduction:
I. P.E was something I use to look forward to when I was in grade school.
II. It was really the only time of day we didn 't have to sit in a desk and listen to a teacher.
III. Physical Education was not mandatory in my elementary school but we still had something called “cycle motor” every Thursday.
IV. In middle school and high school however, it was mandatory for us to take a P.E class. It was a requirement for us to graduate.
V. I use to think all schools required a P.E class but I was wrong. Turns out that only a few school required students to take a P.E class.
VI. Physical Education should be mandatory for all schools because it promotes good habits and a good future health. If that wasn’t enough it can also help students in the classroom.
Body:
I. Promoting Good Habits
a. Required PE classes help students develop good exercise habits, resulting in healthier lifestyles.
b. According to the Bright Hub Education.com, healthy exercise helps prevent obesity and other serious illnesses, such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis.
c. If more schools required students to participate in sedentary activities, students would be forced to do something active.
d. Mandatory P.E classes would help students burn calories, exercise muscles, reduce stress levels and improve their psychological and physical health.
II. Promoting Good Future Health
a. Physical education courses encourage students to lead healthy lives. brightfutures.org states that people who exercise regularly during childhood and adolescence are more likely to exercise during adulthood.
b. If a student never exercises as a student, it could be difficult for them to practice self-discipline and develop healthy exercise habits as adults.
III. Helps in the classroom.
a. “Exercise is food to the brain” says Dr. John Ratey of Harvard University. Studies show that exercise builds new brain cells in the part of the brain that helps with memory and
