Sneaker Palace
Final Project
My business will be a Retail Store and the name of my store will be the “Sneaker Palace”.
My store will give the community a chance to get all the sneakers they may want and need. Here at the Sneaker Palace, we will provide all types of brand name shoes, such as; Nikes, Adidas, Jordan’s, Puma’s, Reebok, and Timberland boots, with a couple other brands as well. We will also have other items as well, like hats and some athletic gear, t-shirts, and hoodies. We want to provide the community with a good place to shop and as well give the great service, in which they will feel comfortable with our working crew and enjoy our presence and service.
I will be the owner and general manager, and under me I will have a supervisor, in which my supervisor is next in charge whenever I’m not in the store or gone on vacation. Mike Miller will be my supervisor.

For organizing, Mike and I will work together for that. Again, Mike and I will work together on the staffing unit, in which we will find a great staff that will help us run the store and make our store a successful business. On the staff, we will hire about 5-7, since we’re a retail store we don’t necessarily need a huge staff, but enough to where we can be pretty interchangeable and scheduling can be easy and not a problem. I’ll be head of the directing, and I’ll call the shots and direct things in the right direction for my store. Mike will do all the controlling, in which he’ll make sure things are done correctly and if it’s not done right he’ll fix it, also he’s the supervisor and at times it’ll be him running the show when I’m not around, so I think he deserves and should be the

As a result the owner does a large majority of the daily operations of the company and does not use management techniques that could make the company more streamlined. This issue is one that should be addressed by all management personnel within the company. One of the main responsibilities of a manager is the delegation, and assigning of work to lower level employees. The owner of the company has taken on entirely too much of the daily operations of the individual stores. Store level issues and operations should be handled by the manager of the prospective store; if that store’s manager is not able to resolve the issue or is having a problem with the operational aspect the company then the issue should be sent up the chain to be handled by a higher level manager. The simple task of delegating responsibility will remove a significant portion of the workload off the owner and on to store personnel who can better manage the…

The decision on whether to promote one of the existing store managers or to hire someone from the outside is not an easy one. Each option has advantages and disadvantages. If you promote one of the store managers, you gain the advantage of someone who is already familiar with the day to day operations. Unless this person also has previous experience at this type of management, there will not be any new ideas introduced to the organization. In order to do this, they would need to hire someone from the outside. Though this person may not be familiar with the product line, new management ideas could be introduced into the organization. New ideas could help the organization run more efficiently. Someone who has experience managing a large team over a large geographic area plus some training experience and finance experience would be a great find for the company.…

Creating a position between the CEO and location managers would be somewhat a good idea. I see that as a bad idea for them right now because how they are running their business it’s a day to day decision. If they create that position that’s another salary they have to afford and it doesn’t seem like they are ready for it yet. A good thing about it is that they can have a certain person focus on the pros and cons of the business and see the inside and outside of the business. It seems to be that they want to hire an area director to go around to locations and see how the sales are and how the store is being run. Also that person can help Dalman and Lei advertise their business and try to get it on local radio stations, flyers, newspaper, and coupons for repeating customers, and maybe even designing a mascot to go on the sidewalk and pass out the coupons and bring people in.…

When analyzing the organizational feasibility, we should examine the cultural aspect of Cupcake Confections LLC. The location of the shop will be on or around the vicinity of Virginia Commonwealth University to better target young adults. For the makeup of the restaurant, we have decided to hire 6 staff members between the ages of 16-34 years; one being a full-time manager, one being a full-time supervisor, and the other four being part-time staff. While it is a positive to have one manager throughout the day so you don’t have to split the cost for two, that leads to a drawback of the Manager burning out throughout the day. To minimize the risk of this, we will have the manager only come in during the busier shifts of the day versus staying…

To start the process the managers should form a semiautonomous work group, and guide and teach new team members not supervise them. This would put the team in charge of their individual stores, but they will still have the upper management to lean on. Dalman and Lei should then set some short term goals. Team Leaders should train the new self-managed team so they can better manage daily routines. The team should discuss tasks, roles and how decisions will be made and agree on them. With proper training the self-managed team can offer many advantages. Some being employee and customer satisfaction, and improved products. The team should work together sharing their personal experiences as to what works best to resolve the issues their stores are facing.…
