Many people think that pluralism is learning to cope with the diversity; however, Mouw thinks coping it hard than it looks. From a Christian aspect, pluralism can be very bad, but Mouw states we should celebrate it. For one thing, God created diversity. During creation, he spoke many different animals into being, and he thought creation was good. So, why can’t Christian also love diversity? We have always been swarmed with the diversity of the world, and it is not a new topic; however, we are experiencing new ideas of pluralism. In the Middle Ages, people didn’t have much choices with what they wanted to do with their lives. Nowadays, we have more choices, and through those choices the world has become more and more diverse. Many of the worldviews and value systems of the diverse world can be bewildering to the mind when it is swarmed with the information we hear about the different diversities. Sometimes, we hear so much that we don’t know what to focus on or believe is right. This can lead to idols, idolatry, and pluralism of idolatry, and we know how God feels about idolatry. He hates the pluralism of idolatry. The worldviews or value system gives views of many things that look good, but are not. We might tend to value the different aspects of a certain diversity. For example, we might tend to value a particular race or religion over another. Then, we will not be open to hear or learn about the other races or religions. Mouw states to help avoid the pluralism or idolatry is to put God at the center, and he will be able to helps us avoid the pluralism

In The Gagging of God: Christianity Confronts Pluralism, author D. A. Carson describes three categories of pluralism: empirical, cherished, and philosophical or hermeneutical.[i] The first deals with diversity in America and the multiplicity of beliefs. The second, cherished pluralism, describes the approval of diversity as an unquestioned virtue. Finally, philosophical pluralism, under which religious pluralism falls, posits that no religion has the right to pronounce itself true and right. In other words, no religion can advance “truth claims” that are superior to any other. Carson states that postmodernism is the outlook that birthed philosophical pluralism.[ii]…

My understanding of Diversity is no longer limited to race. Understanding the value of diversity provides the frame work for effective social and cultural interaction from the perspective of one another. Many misunderstandings and misconceptions in regards to diversity are due to the lack of understanding without feedback from one another. In society we believe the views and opinions within our own culture as truth, without taking the time to engage in dialogue to bring understanding to our views and differences. Our preconceived ideologies once allowed diversity to be a vehicle for separation, but we must redefine what diversity…

Diversity can be such an interesting topic. When one mentions diversity several things come to mind and most often the first thing that comes to mind is the cultural diversity of The United States. To gain a better understanding of different cultures around the World, a person could spend their life traveling the globe or even better yet they could sit back and take in the daily occurrences around them. It is hard to find a country more culturally diverse than our own and yet we fail to see it. There are several reasons that we fail to see this diversity, whether it be a lack of understanding or just a lack of willingness to understand. For a country that is called “the melting pot of the world”, we certainly still have a prevalent degree of prejudice and discrimination. Some would call it a lack of insight and willingness to grow; I prefer to call it ignorance and fear, fear of differences and change.…

“We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race (Kofi, 1938).” As children we are innocent, playful, and accepting. Then, as we get older we are influenced by our environment; which could be our upbringing, the people around us, and our cultural. According to Rosado, cultural diversity is a system of beliefs and behaviors that includes and respects diverse groups whether in an organization or the world in general. It also acknowledges and values everyone’s socio-cultural differences, and inspires and enables their contribution within the community. It is apparent that we live in a world that is filled with people of all different religion, race, sexual orientation,…

The first section talks about the fact of cultural diversity and that this diversity is the creation of God Himself. "After completing the creation, God looked around, saw a vast array of diversity in all he had created and declared it "very good" (Gen.1:31). Diversity is rooted in the creative activity of God" (p.23). Naturally diversity is likely to breed conflict and division but the unity in the midst of diversity is what brings out the glory of God. Christians need to see the diverse culture and the potential for conflict that such diversity can bring about but at the same time learned to be equipped to promote unity in diversity according to the will of God.…
