THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Internet is a system that links million of computers together. It made the computers more efficient. Computers, as one of the most efficient technology today, become a neccesity for us humans.
This school year, Computers in the computer laboratory at St. James Academy are now connected and are able to access the internet. It allows the students to surf the net to search for informations. It gives them a lot of advantages because it provides them a lot of references that can help them with their Hands-on activities. These hands-on activities are done during computer classes only, it’s like their seatworks during coputer class. Consequently, this progress is not thoroughly effective. The installation of internets in computer class makes way to the students to gain access to the different SNSs through the internet.
This study aims to prove how effective the installation of internet connection is. That the internet connection, during computer classes of the third year students of St. James Academy, improves their skills. It also helps them in minimalizing their work and it provides them a lot of references in their hands-on activities.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to analyze the significance of using internet connections during computer classes of the Junior High School Students of St. James, specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:
1.1. Gender : Male and Female
1.2. Age: 15 - 16
2. What can the internet connection provide to the Junior students ? 3. How many of them use the internet for computer class purposes only? 4. What is the relationship between the Hands-on activities of the Junior students and the usage of internet during Computer classes? 5. Are the computers in the Computer Lab. efficient in terms of the usage of internet?
This study assumes that:
1. The respondents will answer the questionnaires and rate the significance and effectiveness of internet connection during computer classes. 2. The students will cite their perception towards the usage of internet as a study tool. 3. The study will prove that this progress is really effective.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
School Administration/Faculty – The study will make teachers understand how their students see the internet as a study tool. As authors of knowledge in school, they can do ways in order to promote internet usage. As for the school administrators, this study can cite things on how to improve things concerning the school computer laboratory.
Students –The students will become more aware about the internet connections that were provided by the school. Thus, this can help them cite points on how this new development can help them in their studies as well as enhancing their capabilities.
Parents – Parents will be taught on how their children use internet as a study tool. With this, they can understand that this new technology is very effective in terms proving their children a wide capacity of references.
Future Researchers – The information presented will serve as a guide for future researchers to know things concerning the internet . This can also help discuss the new developments in internet and improvements in learning using different study tools.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
This study will focus on the usage of the internet as an effective new technology for the Junior students of St. James Academy high school academic year 2012-2013 from January to March 2013.
There will be 100 respondents, 20 from each section namely St. Pius, St. John, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Mother Francisca and St. Agnes. The said number comprises the 50 percent of the total Junior high school...
