Sport Athletes’ Salaries
Are professional athletes overpaid? This topic has been argued for some time now. It is said that pro athletes are paid way too much money for playing a sport. On the other side, there are the ones that say that the money is fairly deserved because of their hard work to get to where they are. Should pro athletes' salaries drop or stay as is? Do the top athletes deserve their pay? Athletes deserve the money they receive because of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their passion. They wouldn't be where they're at just sitting on the couch all day long doing nothing. They put a lot of time and effort into their futures. Most people don't even realize the sacrifices that a pro athlete has to make in order to continue the sport they love. The fact that some people who are saying they are overpaid are the exact ones watching these sports as entertainment, which is hypocrisy. The people who conclude athletes are overpaid do not look further into the facts. Knowing that pro athletes have huge salaries, it may seem like it isn't fair to the ones with more important jobs like teachers, policemen, etc. These jobs benefit their communities, while the athletes are merely entertaining. Sports athletes don't benefit society as much as teachers, policemen, etc., but most people criticizing are only using top-notch athletes to conclude that all athletes are overpaid. They aren't even thinking about the rest of the athletes. The reason being that it's the top athletes that are known the most and the rest don't get as much publicity, so they choose to conclude their arguments just knowing top-paid athletes' salaries. According to Salaries.com, the average professional athlete makes around $18,100 to $40,800 a year. These athletes are nowhere near overpaid. People need to stop classifying all pro athletes as one. It all depends on the athlete because the top ones can have endorsement deals that shoot their salaries...
