Pro Athletes Get Paid Too Much Essay
Do you think that athletes get paid way too much money? Athletes gets paid more then the person who controls our country. Also the franchises get payed more then the athlete and that’s why athletes get paid so much. Salary comparison, respect and prestige, and fans supporting the team is why pro athletes make so much money. One of the first reasons why athletes get paid way too much is because of all of the fans that buy things to support the teams.

I think that athletes are getting paid way too much money but it not all of their fault, it’s also us as fans. All of the ticket, clothing, and other stuff that are made for the team are being sold and most of that money is divided between the players (news). Also buying super expensive food, drinks, and stuff at the gift shops at the games goes to the players as well (bleacher report). For example, a golden state

For example, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, refuses to stand for the National Anthem during a preseason game with the Green Bay Packers (ijr). Also during the playing of the National Anthem at 2016 Super Bowl, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newtown failed to remove his skullcap and hold his hand over his heart (ijr). I feel like not standing or taking off your hat while the National Anthem is one of the most disrespectful thing to do. If you can’t stand and give your respect to the people that fight for you and put their lives on the line for you, then you should leave this country. In March of 2016, Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams was so irritated with how his players behaved during the National Anthem, so he brought in military veterans and had his players stand face-to-face with them.“These guys, when they were your age, interrupted their life, they paused their education, they changed their career, and they gave their life for those chairs,” he told his players(ijr). That is how every coach should tell their

The first reason why athletes should not get paid is because they already get free things from their sponsors to their fans. “The NCAA athletes get paid with psychology classes, track suits, knee braces, and ice baths.” This proves that the athletes get free stuff some of it that they don’t even use. Also the more popular you get the more fans you have and more sponsorship you have which means more money/gifts.…

The college athletes should be paid there are many reasons that these people think they should be paid and here is why. Many athletes in the past and present have been bringing in attendance and money to the university. Patrick Ewing former NBA Star went to college in Georgetown and he brought in $12,000,000 Profit, i’m pretty sure that this was back when Ewing played back in the ‘70s that should be over $17,000,000 now. A lot of these college athletes such as Andrew Luck, Anthony Davis, Jared Sullinger, Robert Griffin III bring in tons of money for their university, people want to see these young college athletes play. Most of these athletes on big time teams put on amazing performances and bring the university millions of dollars, these athletes get paid a quarter of a million dollars at the most. The big time colleges now such as Kansas, Kentucky, Baylor, Duke, Michigan St all basketball, and Alabama, LSU for football grab millions of dollars each year. The athletes for those teams such as Austin Rivers, Anthony Davis, Thomas Robinson, Jeremy Lamb, Andrew Luck, and many more get scholarships worth $250,000 at the most. Another reason people believe that college athletes should be paid is because some athletes are not getting paid from what others are benefiting from. It is obvious that big companies benefit from unpaid athletes. "The video game business is a multi-billion dollar industry that uses college athletes in games without giving them names or credits"…

When you make millions for your school shouldn’t you get something for that? Football and basketball programs make lots of money for their schools but still don't get paid. Some kids even have to quit playing their sports because they don’t have enough money to cover all of the expenses of school. Not all the athletes should be paid just the athletes that bring in the revenue for their school, the ones that earn it. College athletes need to get paid because they are unable to hold a job as well as competitively play their sport, Some of them are getting paid illegally, They make most of the money for their schools shouldn't they get some of that?…

Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to…

Does $5.15 million per year sound like a lot? Yes, this is an average NBA basketball players annually wage. This may sound like a lot of money but many people say the military should make this much too. This is not possible. Our military gets paid from tax income of the country. The United States gets $3.7 trillion in income tax. If you divided that among all the soldiers and pay them what pros get paid, this is how much it would be. It would be 7.8063324e+12, that's a lot. My main three reasons for thinking pros should get paid more than soldiers are not enough money, just as much training, and they get paid from different sources. Athletes get paid from millions of fans ,and military gets paid from the United States defense budget.…

There should be no salary caps on professional athletes. Professional athletes are paid more because of how of many people go to certain sports games. If a sports team generates more money, then athletes will be paid more. People would think teachers or firefighters should be paid more, but neither of those jobs is making as much money as a sports franchise. So if a sports team makes a lot of money, then it can pay more to its players. There are more people, who go to professional sports games than there are people, who use their money for school or hospital bills. Athletes are put under contract, which means they have to do other activities other than play in games. They also have to meet with the press and with their local community. Forbes.com…

On the other hand, there are some reasons on why they shouldn’t get paid. The problem with paying the athletes is would all the athletes be paid the same? If so it would be unfair for players that don’t show up on national television is getting paid the same amount as an athlete competing with 33 million people watching them. Also, they shouldn’t be paid if they are on a athletic scholarship. If players think they’re good enough to be paid then they can make it to the professionals.…

College athletes spend countless of hours practicing and studying the game they love in order to perform. The amount of money these athletes bring into their schools is ridiculous. The coach's salary for an average D1 school is about 1.64 million dollars a year, Some athletes have received help from others, these athletes have been kicked out of the sport they love and were forced drop out of school due to the loss of their scholarship. It's not fair for these athletes to bring in so much revenue for the school and get nothing in return (Tribune, Chicago. Some people believe that college athletes should be paid and others do not. The only thing wrong with paying athletes is they get paid in other ways. College athletes get scholarships, housing, coaches, and opportunities no other college student has. So maybe they shouldn’t get paid but when you step back and look at the whole picture; coaches get paid a lot of money for example coming from Nick Saban (football coach of University of Alabama) he makes over $7 million a year. But think of the team. Yes, the coaches put in a lot of effort to teach his players but the players do the real work.…

I agree that our athletes are being paid too much money for what they do compared to other jobs in our society. I agree that teachers should definitely be paid a higher salary since if we did not have teachers, our future would become a look-alike of our past since students are our future. This topic ties to other major entertainers in society such as movie actors and television program hosts who are also paid too much for their value in our world. There is no balance if athletes are paid over fifty million a year and those who sacrifice their lives every day to perform their jobs aren’t even paid a fraction of it. I think that even if their attitudes are to change, and they become positive role models that are truly valued by society, they do not deserve the salary they have and the system needs to…

Imagine a star of a college basketball team. They take their team to the championship game and win the game. Their jerseys are selling like crazy and their school is bringing in millions of dollars off of their work. In any other situation they would be a millionaire with a fancy house and car. But not if they are a college athlete because they don't get paid. Even though their school made a lot of money off their blood, sweat, and tears they still don't get paid one penny. There is no doubt that college athletes should be paid. They should be paid because they work hard and put their bodies on the line, they would make college sports more competitive, and they also bring in hundreds of millions of dollars.…

For examples some professional athletes who plays knows that they are getting pay so they won’t try as hard as college athlete who aren’t getting pay at all. “people think oh, you’re on scholarship. They pay for your room and board, they pay for your education, but to their knowledge, you’re there to play football. You’re not on scholarship for school and it sounds crazy when a student-athlete says that but that’s those are the things coaches tell them every day”- Richard Sherman (Volk) Even Richard Sherman who is a cornerback from the Seahawks use to play for NCAA Football team knows how it felt playing while not getting pay. This shows how they treat their own players badly. When you’re a college athlete you don’t have kind of time for yourself. You must go to class after class then you might try to get a quick bite if you have time. Afterward, you must go straight to practices which takes hours then when you get home your tired and you still must do your homework from school. College athletes have a lot on their plates and they should be rewarded with little cash as much as the professional players in the NBA, NFL, etc. It’s also important to note that college athletes are not only part of a sports team they are also part of the college advertising team. By that I mean that the NAA or the college they go to use them a lot to advertise their games or make games out of them like EA sports. Both EA Sport and NCAA win huge profit from the athlete from those advertising and yet they don’t see how hard those college athletes are working as hard as the professional…

Professional athletes are making too much money in a society where salaries and wages are traditionally based on the value of one’s work. In today's society, one will be paid more if their job is more economically important. However, teaching is one of the most economically important occupations because our future economy relies on the education of its youth, yet teachers are paid much less than the average professional athlete. The U.S President makes decisions that affect our economy and yet he only makes 400,000 dollars a year (Barack Obama). Professional athletes do not play near as vital role in the economy as the president, but their salaries reflect otherwise. These games are supposed to be played for fun, not for millions of dollars.…
