We also have an individual who has sight and hearing impairments and cannot always see objects or clear glass in the doors. Injuries may be minor such as bruising, or serious such as fractures and breaks. Slips and trips – Accidental spillages can cause slips if not cleaned up immediately. Items left on the floor, such as the mop bucket, can be a trip hazard. Especially for our sight impaired individual and our Ataxia individual who cannot manoeuvre easily around objects or spillages. Vomiting and diahorrhoea, coughs and colds, Flu, Covid – As our individuals go out to different services or activities such as the Gym, they can easily bring these illnesses into the home and then they easily spread amongst everyone, individuals, staff and visitors. Epileptic/None-Epileptic Seizures – we have one individual with Epilepsy and one individual with none-epileptic seizures. Injuries can occur during seizures as the individual may drop to the ground suddenly and/or be injured on the ground during a seizure as they may bang their head or any other part of their body if there are objects nearby when they fall. Choking – we have an individual who has no desire to wear dentures. He is a choking risk because he eats his food fast, does not chew his food properly, and swallows big chunks of food.
