Although the movie “Babies” is not your average movie with a plot, climax, bad guy, good guy type of movie it can be very inspirational and educational. Along with cute funny moments that leave you in awe and laughter, this movie shows a lot of psychological aspects being involved along with sociological norms of four babies from Tokyo, San Francisco, Mongolia, and Namibia. From reflexes, to motor development, to basic brain development, these come along from growing up as a baby.…
I first watched this film two years ago when I saw it in the library DVD shelve. I found the concept of babies interesting since they are adorable and tiny, but watching it with a symbolic interaction perspective has given me an insight that I did not have the first time I watched it. Even though all the babies were born to different social environments and economic statuses, the parents wanted their child to be safe and provided what they perceived to be the best basic needs.…

With the growing temptation of the cash that surrounds her night after night ultimately proves too powerful to resist, Bridget teams up with two of the other cleaners, Nina and Jackie, for a criminal activity of stealing worn-out dollar bills slated for destruction.…
The behavior of Russ, the main character in the movie, can be described by using four different theories of development. Firstly, we can describe Russ’s behavior by Psychoanalytic Theories. In this case, Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory will be used to explain the behavior of Russ. According to Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory (Cherry, 2011a), there are eight stages of human development and people will experience a conflict that serves as a turning point in each stage of development. People who had overcome the conflict in each stage will develop a psychological quality whereas those who could not overcome the conflict will fail to develop that quality. In the movie, Russ did not overcome the conflict in sixth stage, which is intimacy vs. isolation. For example, as Russ did not have a good relationship with his father when he was small, end up he turns out to be a man who being isolated, as he did not get marry or even own a dog. This is because he did not develop intimacy since small. He did not know how to commit himself to another person.…
The time-honored belief in hard work overcoming obstacles is personified in Rocky Balboa, the main character of John Avildsen’s 1976 film Rocky. Balboa is an underdog, an unsuccessful boxer whose best days seem behind him. Despite this fact, Rocky’s pride prevents him from abandoning his dream of being “somebody”—not just another bum from his Philadelphia neighborhood. When Balboa is miraculously offered a shot at the heavyweight boxing title, Rocky trains with determination and does not surrender to the overwhelming odds. Rocky Balboa is an apparent loser whose pride and determination lead him to moral victory. He exemplifies the importance of believing in oneself.…
In the 1983 smash hit Risky Business, director Paul Brickman takes his audience on a wild ride through Chicago. The film spans across the Chicago land area, and beyond. From a small high school, to a world famous hotel, it really shows what Chicago is made of. But it also holds a dark side to itself, when the dangerous and socially perverse world of prostitution comes into play.…
Rocky Balboa believes that what is right should always be given to who deserves it. In this speech with the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission (audience) he is turned down the right to get his boxer licenses back (purpose) even though every test they put him through he passed with flying colors. He expresses his disgust of being turned down due to his age by using pathos (emotions), ethos (credibility), and logos (logic).…
Many of the visual effects in Fight Club have been overshadowed by effect-based movies (LOTR, The Matrix) but upon closer examination I found that they were perfect in their own right. They depicted a chaotic sense of disengagement, not only from society but also from oneself. Two of the most technically advanced shot were CGIs (computer generated enhancements) of Jack's IKEA apartment. One was a tracking shot, entering through the door and circling his apartment before zooming to a macro shot of the back of his fridge, that apparently contained a gas leak that in turn led to the demise of his apartment. The other apartment-based shot was almost comical, a shot circling through his apartment labelling his designer furniture and appliances, not unlike a magazine catalogue. Although not a breakthrough in the world of visual effects, when combined with the atmosphere of Jacks cynical, mundane voiceovers and brilliant cinematography it makes for an enchanting shot that gives a very true to life insight of the average material-bound American male.…
It’s been eleven years since we last saw the gang in Toy Story 2 and things are a bit different now. Weezy and Bo Peep, as well as others, are gone. They have fallen victim to damage, yard sales, garbage bags, donations, and simply being misplaced. There is a melancholy feeling in the air between Woody and the rest of the gang as the film opens. Andy is now 17 years old and is preparing to depart to college. Each toy is well aware as they watch him pack, that their futures will come down to either living in the attic, become donated, or thrown away. As Andy looks over all of his old toys, he decides to put them in a garbage bag and keep them in the attic. He however, decides to take Woody, his oldest friend, to school with him. However, things go awry when the toys are accidentally taken to the curb to be thrown out. Thinking that they have been abandoned, they decide to stowaway in a donation box headed to Sunnyside Daycare. At first it seems like a dream come true for a toy. A place where children come and play with toys everyday. But it is soon discovered that Sunnyside is not the Marxist Utopia that it appears to be. A lack of ownership means that the children do not take care of the toys, leaving them to be played with in brutish manner. The once thought friendly leader of Sunnyside, Lotso, turns out to be a ruthless dictator. Soon, Sunnyside becomes a prison for the gang, and it is up to them to find a way out. Where the first two Toy Story installments served as rescue movies, with characters nobly putting themselves in danger to save their friends from harm, this one instead follows the jailbreak genre.…
Cry-Baby is a 1990 American teen musical film written and directed by John Waters. The film did not achieve high audience numbers in its initial release, but has subsequently become a cult classic and spawned a Broadway musical of the same name. John Waters first went mainstream with the 1988 classic Hairspray and then defied fans’ opinion. They complained he had gone all lame and mainstream by daring to follow it up with a full-on musical comedy. The film is a parody of teen musicals (particularly Grease) and centers on a group of delinquents that refer to themselves as "drapes" and their interaction with the rest of the town and its other subculture, the "squares", in 1950s Baltimore, Maryland. Cry-Baby is his delightful tribute to Elvis, juvenile delinquency and rockabilly music. It is a real pleasure to watch how Johnny Depp twitching and crooning like Elvis.…

She does not stop trying to get Frankie Dunn’s attention, who is an experienced trainer and owner of the gym, by going there every day. Frankie’s most important advice given to Maggie was “to always protect yourself.” To prepare Maggie for what will be the most important fight of her life, he gives her a Gaelic nickname, “Mo Chuisle.” We later find out, this represents their close father-daughter relationship, one he lacked with his real daughter, whom he wrote letters to that came back unanswered for twenty years. “I should have fought, for you. 'Cause you fight for your soul mates.” –Cal Weaver. This story is characterized by fighting for the person you love and passing through all obstacles no matter what happens. It was written by Dan Fogelman, starred by Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and / Emma Stone, and released on 2011. This movie is my favorite because it combines love, cheating, crazy experiences, and definitely fun. All the actors get completely involved in their characters and make the story feel so real and interesting. It is a story that makes the spectators remain sitting down / while watching it and amazes everyone with a not-expected final.…
Movie Setting Description The setting of the movie is in one of the small islands of Greece. The island is called “Kalokairi”. The movie showed that the island is like a haven for all the distressed people because the island has a breathtaking view and the environment itself is just refreshing. The setting is a typical Greek environment wherein there are donkeys, concrete villas that are square-type, and the up and down slopes. It is an ideal place to wake-up every morning because of its peaceful, clean, and preserved environment.…
