Milk Healthy or Not?
John A
Professor Mallilo

Milk, Healthy or Not? Most people drink milk everyday because it has been proven to increase bone strength and also helps slow down bone loss as we age. However, this seemingly harmless drink may be more harmful than it is healthy. Milk and other dairy products are packed with a lot of different nutrients that are essential for human survival and growth. As well as calcium, milk also has protein, potassium, phosphorus, vitamin D, vitamin B12, vitamin A, Riboflavin, and Niacin. The National Dairy Council states that with just one eight ounce glass of milk a day provides the same amount of vitamin D you would get from 3.5 ounces of salmon and more than 2 ¼ cups of broccoli. Milk helps build strong bones and teeth where most of the body’s calcium is held. It also improves bone density, which means a lower risk of fractures and osteoporosis. After working out its proven that drinking chocolate milk can increase your results. This is because after you workout, your body is more receptive to using amino acids to repair muscle tissue. It is also beneficial because of its protein content.
Dairy products in general carry a lot of calcium, but they might not be the best source. Good, non-dairy sources of calcium include soy milk, beans, and supplements that have calcium and vitamin D. Another good way to get calcium is to eat dark green vegetables; that is how cows get their calcium. High intake of milk and other dairy products can increase the risk of prostate cancer. They can also have high levels of saturated fat and vitamin A, which can actually weaken the bones. Milk from a cow is rich in phosphorous which can potentially fuse with calcium and that can prevent us from absorbing the calcium in the milk. Milk’s protein also quickens calcium emission from the blood through the kidneys. People can also be allergic to dairy products and it is called lactose intolerance. This is because those allergic cannot produce the enzyme lactase

However, plants can also grow when they are watered with other liquids. Watering plants with different liquids can give the plants not only the water they need for growing, but it also gives the plant other gases and nutrients water does not have that will support their growth. Milk has so many qualities that would help a plant grow. Milk helps protect the plant with things by changing the pH levels of leaves to…

Thousands of people, from different ages and genders, participated in these studies. As a result, there is no relation between drinking milk and increase the bones strengthen. It is remarkable to think how dairy products can make a difference in any and everyone’s body as one cow can produce 6 to 8 gallons of milk a day. During an activity or exercise, muscles become damaged and in need of replenishment. With the help of nutrients such as calcium, protein, and phosphorus, the job is able to be accomplished. Vitamins A, D, and B12 assist in ensuring your body is healthy and ready to go for whatever comes your way. Riboflavin helps absorb nutrients which in return, gives off energy which we all know is important to an athlete and their performance. As potassium keeps your blood pressure regulated, niacin helps in maintaining good levels in your body by removing the toxins. Now, dairy products do not only supply the nine essential nutrients, but electrolytes and carbohydrates. The electrolytes found in dairy products replaces those found in sports drinks. In a study published in the journal Applied Physiology, researchers found that those who drank milk after training were capable of exercising longer in their upcoming sessions over people who drank a sports drink of some type. Carbohydrates are key when striving for the maximum amount of energy, speed, stamina, concentration, and recovery.
