Educators must build strong relationships with their students to gain trust and enhance the learning process. These teaching/learning relationships can help classroom management, encourage classroom participation and learning with the use of various learning strategies. There must be a mutual respect between the teacher and students. The students need to be vested in the learning process. Student engagement is the key to learning. The students should receive positive reinforcement when those opportunities arise. Students seek attention and it is preferred that the attention be positive. Games are interactive and engagement when linked to learning has a positive correlation to student achievement per Creekmore and Deaton (2015, page 22). There are many online games which can be used with the smartboard in the classroom. There are other interactive games that are either for individuals or groups of students. It is important to have opportunities for the students to socialize, which will also give them an opportunity to learn from peer modeling. Creekmore and Deaton pointed out the importance of students to use Self-Regulated Learning strategies. This allows them an opportunity to reflect, monitor and self-assess their learning (2015, page 35). This gives students a responsibility in their learning, which makes them feel more responsible and in control. Questioning Techniques are essential as a link to higher-order thinking questions for students, as well as the real-world connection. Students have a need to know how this information will be used in my life. A geometry class for instance when discussing perimeter, it is important to discuss how one would know how much fence needed to enclose a yard. The children can relate to this …show more content…
The teacher and students work together to accomplish the learning targets. The students should show confidence in their learning. To check the level of achievement a summative assessment is given and to determine the approach to learning or any changes a formative assessment is given which will direct the educator on whether plan and approach has been effective. The formative assessment will direct the teacher on whether to continue the current lesson plan or make adjustment to meet the needs of the students (Stiggins, Arter, Chappuis,J. & Chappuis S., 2011, page
