INTRODUCTION:

The 7 Dimensions of Organizational culture are:

1. Innovative
2. Aggressive
3. Outcome Oriented
4. Stable
5. People Oriented
6. Team Oriented
7. Detail Oriented

These are the seven (7) Dimensions of Organizational culture. And Google is playing a important while using the 7 Dimension theory and it mainly focusing on “People Orientation”.

One of the main reason why Google is mainly focusing on People Orientation because to attract the next knowledge workers it can in an intensely competitive, cutthroat market; to help employees work long hours and not have to deal with time-consuming personal chores; to show employees they are valued; and to have employees remain “Googlers” for many years.

One of the major stumbling blocks in business is keeping employees motivated. Using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, explain how Google may have used this tool to assess where employees may be in terms of their own personal development. What other tools could they have used to assist?

According to Maslow, our actions are motivated in order to achieve certain needs. Maslow first introduced his concept of a hierarchy of need in his 1943 paper “A theory of human motivation” and his subsequent book motivation and personality. This hierarchy clearly shows that people are keen to fulfill their basic need first before moving on to other advance needs. Maslow believed that people have an inborn desire to be self-actualized, to be all they can be. In order to achieve the desired goal set, however, numerous basic needs are to be met first such as need for food, safety, love, and self-esteem.

As define in the case study, Google provide their employees a complete and good package and treatment/ entertainment to stick them around with their organization and work place. The reason of employees leaving for their own development and their own businesses was the lack of basic need described by Maslow in his hierarchy of need. The psychological needs were though fulfilled by the company but the need of security was not their present

    Putting it in the simplest word, working at Google is like working in a fun land. Over 70 offices around the world with a very unique concept, Google succeeded to entice the best employees on each particular field to work with them. They hired smart and determined candidates and favor ability more than experience. At Google there are no fixed working hours and you can work whenever you want.
