Introduction
Eating healthy foods and getting plenty of exercise are the two most important things a person can do for their body to maintain a healthy weight. When a person takes care of their body by eating healthy foods and exercising, the person will notice that they have more energy and a more positive attitude overall. About 12.5 million children and teens, and over one-third of adults in the US have an obesity problem. The obesity problem in children and teens has nearly tripled in the last 30 years. Eating healthy foods can benefit a person by giving a person more natural energy, helping one maintain a healthy weight, and helping one live longer.

Natural Energy/Healthy Foods
A person can get more natural energy from eating healthy foods. There are four different types of healthy foods that will give you more natural energy. First of all eating fruit is a great way to gain natural energy because it has the boosting capability that helps to keep you on track in between meals. Fruit has natural sugars in it that will help boost your spirit and your energy level. The vitamin C and the fiber that you find in fruits, helps keep your mental clarity up throughout the day. Two of the most popular options of fruit are strawberries and oranges. Grapes, cherries and melons will give you some energy but not as much. Making smoothies in the morning, using frozen fruit is a great way to a burst of natural energy, when you need it the most. Another healthy food that will give you natural energy is whole grains. Whole grains are an important part of creating natural energy because for one, your body uses carbohydrates for its primary fuel, and for two, you can thrive on it throughout the day. Some good choices of whole grain foods are oatmeal, couscous, quinoa, whole wheat pasta, and brown rice.     Healthy eating helps you maintain a good weight. About one to two months ago, my school, Sutter Middle School, required everyone to be part of the physical fitness program. Students must have their weight and height measured during this program. I noticed that there were students who were really nervous about measuring their weight.
