Animal rights are rights given to animals that allow them to live a life without ill-treatment and corporate exploitation. PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk has said, “When it comes to pain, love, joy, loneliness, and fear, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. Each one values his or her life and fights the knife”(). I agree that animals should have compassion shown towards them, as they have a life worth living. At the same time, I don't believe that an animal's…
1. ATTENTION GETTER: Millions of animals are abused each year. Over a million of these animals are abused or killed just due to the involvement with domestic violence. Despite animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time for over 15 years and 500,000 dollars in fines, it is still an issue which occurs on a daily basis across the United States. It is important for these animals to not go unnoticed, which can be achieved if society became more enlightened and educated on the topic of animal cruelty. (Pacelle, 2011).…
Animal cruelty can either be deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. It really doesn’t matter what type of animal it may be it can be a farm animal, a pet, or even a wildlife animal. Any of these victims can suffer terribly. A person that has emotional problems may choose to beat, shoot, or stab the animal, or even set them on fire. When an animal is neglected they may not be given food, water, or shelter, and vet care. It our society it is very important to give the proper care to an animal if the animal isn’t well taken care of it will suffer consequences or even may die. Even though a lot of people don’t seem to make animal abuse it is still considered very severe, and there is U.S laws preventing animal abuse.’…
Animals contribute in many ways to our world. We seem to take for granted the benefits animals can have on us. The benefits animals have on our earth shouldn’t be taken for granted. Without animals, our earth would not receive the essential nutrients it needs to flourish. Establishing animal rights will give animals the love and respect that they’ve always deserved. Animal are not pieces of meat, they are a vital resource to the nutriment of our earth. We have been given the power to protect animals and give them rights of their own. We should not ignore the needs of animals. Animals have benefited us in ways no human can. It is our moral duty as humans to take a stand for animals and give them the rights they deserve. At this very moment animals are being abused and carelessly slaughtered. Now is the time to end the abuse of animals and give them the rights that benefits us…
Animal Rights is the affection and kind treatment offered to every animal without discrimination. Animal Rights involves treating animals with respect and investing in their best interests, regardless if the animal is “cute” or useful to humans.vi The importance of Animal Rights is to protect animals from being abused and exploited. Animal Rights also protects endangered species from extinction. According to Tom Regan, “Animal Rights is to treat humans and other…
What are animal rights? It’s the right believed to animals to live free from medical research, hunting and violence. Throughout the world animals are being abused and exploited for our own pleasure. They are persecuted for hunting, leaving them dead or wounded. Animal research and experimentations are frequently being practiced in today’s society, and the animals are being tortured and heartlessly killed. Animals are wrongly forced into mistreatment, animal rights should annihilate the problems with animal abuse, hunting, and experimentation.…
Animal abuse is when someone inflicts pain or harm upon an animal such as not giving them their basic needs (food and water) to beating them. In between 5 and 7 million animal companions enter an animal shelter nationwide, every year (www.aspca.org), and within 50 miles of Hayward, CA, there are 170 animal cruelty cases reported (www.pet-abuse.com). Imagine what these innocent beings that cannot speak out to let the human know they are in pain feel. Animals need us to speak out and help reduce their suffering instead of making their lives worse. Animal safety needs to be improved by creating more laws to protect animals from harm. Animal cruelty is shaped by two forms of abuse, different types of animal abuse, opinions on how animal cruelty happens, organizations that help fight for animal rights, and ways to report it.…
Humans do not own the Earth. Animals are not obligated to provide them any services, despite the objections of many people. Animals are constantly poked, probed, or burned for the benefit of the human race. We are allowed medicines that cure or treat chronic illnesses due to the sacrifices made by animals, yet we treat them with disrespect because we see them as inferior. An Animal Bill of Rights is necessary. Animals should be protected as much as human beings are, because without them we may not even be alive. If an Animal Bill of Rights is the incentive for humans to treat animals with respect, then so be it.…
Animal rights are essential because in many ways they are just like humans, they are proven to have emotions and have families just like us, therefore it is unethical to abuse the animals in ways that we know is not right to do for humans. Due to animals having limited to no rights, it’s our duty to make a change and make people and schools aware of animal cruelty. Citizens of the United States have the ability of Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition. With that kind of power, we the people can make a difference or change for the better. However, there are limits and boundaries to the First Amendment.…
Animals on a daily basis all over the world are being mistreated and abused by many people that do not care for them. There are very few people attempting to protect these animals, whether they are domestic animals, farm animals, or wildlife animals. More attention should be drawn to the treatment of animals because even if we do have laws for animals and for their well being, many people still do not follow these laws. The laws already established for animals should be enforced, because I do agree that animals need protection, as in free from any harm done towards them purposely, but to have a Bill of Rights specifically made for animals seems extreme.…
Now in my opinion, I believe that animals should have an official “Bill of Rights”. They have emotions and show signs of intelligence. I believe that we need to draft a legal “Bill of Rights” for animals. Simple laws should be, and already are, in place to protect animals to some extent but there is more that could be done. Currently, the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) remains the only federal law that regulates the treatment of animals [1]. I believe that the AWA is enough protection for animals, we don’t need additional legislation on top of this and similar…
Animal cruelty has been a problem for many years, but also a major topic all over the United States. Over the years there has been people who have been trying to stop the cruelty to of these innocent animals. For example, Peter Singer and his book Animal Liberation, which caused the movement in 1975 to experience a veritable organizational explosion ( Beers 3). Just imagine how many animals are fighting for their life because of their heartless owners who believe it is okay for them to treat an animal aggressively as if their life didn’t matter. These animals are neglected, beaten, and are forced to survive. Animals should receive the same respect as humans. They are capable of thinking and feeling just the same way we do, so they deserve respect. These animals shouldn’t have to feel pain, which is caused by humans. Animals are not stones, they are able to feel and suffer (Cohen 3). Animal right consists of cruel and unusual abuse to another living being in the United States, because of them being used for experiments, getting killed for their fur and being used in fights.…
A few weeks ago I decided to do my research paper in regards to animal abuse. Knowing from the very beginning that I was completely against animal abuse I thought that this paper would be a piece a cake. All I would have to do was to give examples of actual cases of animal abuse and just throw in my personal feelings on that particular case. But the deeper I dug the more enlightened I became on the subject, which led me to ask myself the question that when it comes to animal abuse and/or animal cruelty what rights do animals actually have, if any, and what place do they have in our society? Historically, animals did not have any rights or a place in our society, since they were considered solely as “property”. Today, the courts still solve issues under the same concept as if they are “property”. Animals should not be considered as property they should be considered as part of the family, as for production animals they should be treated with the utmost respect, and testing on animals should be done away with.…
Since the beginning of time animals have walked the Earth with man. They have been used for food, clothing, friends, pets, and for other things. Many people believe that hurting an animal for personal gain is inhumane, but I disagree. A “Bill of Rights” for animals, I believe, is unnecessary in that animals wouldn’t even realize that they withhold such a powerful thing. They are needed by humans for survival, and finally if the laws on how we can treat animals is changed, companies would now have to re-learn the steps in properly caring for an animal before killing/experimenting with it. Animals do not need their own “Bill of Rights.”…
“When it comes to pain, love, joy, loneliness, and fear, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. Each one values his or her life and fights the knife” (Newkirk). The debate of animal rights has been a controversy for some time and numerous people could argue that animals have no rightly value like humans do. Animals have just as much value and deserve to be treated right. Although many believe animals have no feelings, animals should have the same protection rights as humans because they are living things, are able to feel pain, and are not our sources of entertainment.…
