QM PROJECT
INTRODUCTION :
This project was undertaken to document and analyze the number of autos entering the IIM Kozhikode campus. We felt it was important to undertake this project because, it’s a very pertinent and relevant issue for the student community of IIMK. Students often need to go out for various reasons, that include groceries from Reliance Fresh, Beauty parlour visits for girls, Barber visits for boys, etc. It is at these times that Autos become extremely important for transport. We took samples of data from the main gate, of entries of vehicles for 13 days. Total number of data points is 995, which we believe will be an adequate representation of average vehicle inflow at any given time of the year. We then proceeded to analyse the distribution of these autos, day-wise, destination-wise, hour-wise, etc. We also did Regression Analysis, Hypothesis testing on our sample of data. Various factors were analyzed and inferences were drawn.

This year in science, we were paired up in groups to build a car powered only by a rubber band. There was a lot of physics and thought put behind the planning of our car. The rubber band moved the car by storing up elastic potential energy which then turned into kinetic energy when released. Newton’s Laws of Motion also come in handy when thinking about how to keep the car moving. “An object in motion stays in motion.” There was also a lot of thought put into the wheels. We had to be aware of the relation between the wheel diameter in relation to the distance the car will go. The bigger the wheels, the more distance the car will cover. Along with the wheel diameter, we had to think about the axle diameters in relation to the number of…
