The system quickly changed and became a cyclone and was named Yasi at 10pm on the 30th by Fiji Meteorological Service. Yasi headed in a westward track and rapidly intensified‚ from a Category 2 at 10am on 31st January and then further to a Category 3 at 7pm that day.
