Preview of Thesis and Main Points: Michael Jackson, one of the most widely beloved entertainers and probably the most influential artists of all-time, left an imprint on popular music and culture. Today I would like to talk to you about the life, music, influence, and charities of Michael Jackson.

I. Michael Jackson’s early career.
A. The Jackson Five
1. Michael Jackson started his musical career at the age of 11 in a group that involved his 4 brothers called the Jackson 5.
2. The Jackson 5 were one of the biggest phenomenon in pop music during the early '70s, and the last great group to come out of the Motown before Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder shifted the label's focus to be more of a solo thing. (Web Support) (http://meetthefamily.online.fr/j5bio.htm)

1. An icon is simply an "image or representation of one who is the object of great attention or devotion; an idol" (Webster's 90). Skipping a few words down, you can find that an idol is "an image used as an object of worship" It takes much to be worshiped. Throughout time, America's pop-culture has been filled with icons of each generation, such as Babe Ruth or Elvis Presley. These icons represent a dream hidden within each of us – the dream, though not easily achieved, is to become extraordinarily successful, no matter the circumstances of your origin.
