File extensions and their Applications
1.) .bmp- They called these device-independent bitmaps or DIBs, and the file format for them is called DIB file format or BMP image file format. According to Microsoft support: A device-independent bitmap (DIB) is a format used to define device-independent bitmaps in various color resolutions.

2.) .png- is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression. PNG was created as an improved, non-patented replacement for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), and is the most used lossless image compression format on the Internet.

3.) .jpg - Compressed image format standardized by the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG); commonly used for storing digital photos since the format supports up to 24-bit color; therefore, most digital cameras save images as JPG files by default. JPEG is also a common format for publishing Web graphics since the JPEG compression algorithm significantly reduces the file size of images. However, thelossy compression used by JPEG may noticeably reduce the image quality if high amounts of compression are used.

4.) .html- Web page coded in HTML that can be displayed in a Web browser; formats text, tables, images, and other content that is displayed on the page; most pages withinstatic websites have an ".html" extension.

5.) .avi- short for Audio Video Interleave, is a file format designed to store both audio and video data in a standard package to allow its simultaneous playback. Created by Microsoft in November 1992, AVI is one of the most commonly used video formats. A variation of the AVI format, called DV AVI, is used to create Digital Video that can be transferred losslessly (without loss of quality) between computers
