Statement 4: Technology today has made life better

Technology has significantly impacted our lives and as time passes life improves, as well as technology. Technology thought history has changed our quality of live and has increased our ability to survive. Medical treatment has become so much more advanced and countless lives are being saved because of all of the research. The machines available to diagnose diseases before they become fatal, and treat these diseases is abling people to keep their child, or sister, or mother alive. Technology also provides us with limitless information, resolutions, and connections to places all around the world. An online debate on the issue of technology affecting our life negativley or postivley, the pro point for technology brings up an interesting point , “For example, if you search something in the Internet, you will see tons of information about it, and some of that you could not find otherwise”. The Internet has helped our generation become significantly more knowledgeable, and all of the information that we have access to inspires us to apply ourselves further. Technology has also further developed the safety and security of our world. In an article about digital government President Barack Obama said,“I want us to ask ourselves every day, how are we using technology to make a real difference in people’s lives”. The article explains how new technologies are providing the government with important information such as natural disasters, security concerns, and any information they need in a millisecond because of the high-speed networks of technology in the world. The government is using technology to better connect and provide different services to the American people. The government is dedicated to keeping each individual person, and the nations private information safe, and secure. Technology is “enriching” our lives through so many ways we could not live without it.

Are we truly happy? The future is supposed to mean a great society with a supportive government and flying cars, right? In Ray Bradbury’s world depicted in Fahrenheit 451, it’s the opposite. Knowledge is considered absurd, all people do is watch TV, and owning a book is illegal. Reading is banned, books are burned. Is there even a single sane person in the city? With the lies and false promises blocking the citizens’ view, they must ask themselves, “Are we really happy?”.…

This summary is on the book, Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury. The setting of the book takes place in the future. A man by the name of Guy Montag is a fireman from the future. His job as a fireman is too burn every book and or reading material that people own in their homes. A fireman’s job in this book is not like the job of the fireman in today. Rather than put a fire out they start fires. Montag never questioned his job until he met a young in the neighborhood where he lived by the name of Clarisse. Montags life was about going to work and returning home to a boring unquestioned life. His wife Mildred spent her days with her television that she referred to as “family’. Clarisse told Montag about the past where people didn’t live in fear, and how people sat around outside speaking of old stories from books on the older generations. She filled his head with hope and knowledge. Clarisse said the televisions which were referred to as “family” now, are really not family at all. All these stories excited Montag so he started feeling like he was missing out on this wonderful world of books and knowledge which was a crime in that world. As a fireman his job was to destroy these thoughts and dreams that people had about books but somehow Clarisse made him question why he was destroying all these wonderful stories of the world.…

“Sometimes writers write about a world that does not yet exist. We do it for a hundred reasons. (Because it’s good to look forward, not back. Because we need to illuminate a path we hope or we fear humanity will take. Because the world of the future seems more enticing or more interesting than the world of today. Because we need to warn you. To encourage. To examine. To imagine.) The reasons for writing about the day after tomorrow, and all the tomorrows that follow it, are as many and as varied as the people writing” (Gaiman). Some writers compose books about future utopias just for their own delight and amusement, but others may incorporate their thoughts onto pages of books as a way to send out a message…

The inception of technology has largely impacted the lives of many people in society by developing their everyday activities and experiences. According to Oxford’s English Dictionary, technology is defined as, “the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.” From the same source, society is defined as, “the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community.” Technology has become faster, more affordable and more accessible over time. Some of the greatest aspects of society that have been affected are schools, households, businesses, and service industries. Change is inevitable and because more young minds are being skillfully developed every day, technology is also growing. The evolution of technology and the internet in society has stimulated growth and development in a human’s life by using preexisting solutions to enhance different communication systems. To determine the extent of technology on society, the history and…

Technology is ever-changing in today’s day and age and has affected us individually, and as a society either negatively or positively depending on the perspective. Technology has negatively impacted me in three specific ways. The first way technology has impacted my life caused a decrease in the number of face-to-face interactions I have daily. With technology assisting or occupying the majority of our day, the conversations we participate in daily are more often limited to a text or phone call. The second way technology has affected my life has caused an increase in the amount of bullying found online among students. With social media being the new façade for students to anonymously pick on one another, there’s been a noticeable increase in physical violence in schools, as well as a soaring statistic in pre-teen and teen suicides. The third and final way technology has negatively impacted my life caused less personal thinking in my daily routine. A phone, for example, has Internet connection, a calculator, a dictionary, a thesaurus and multiple other assistive apps to help simplify our daily tasks.…

In our world today, people have put reading, and books, behind them. They have lost focus on an extremely important learning method. Reading not only helps us to learn vital information, but it also allows us to use our imagination. We have begun to call books words like: outdated, useless, and old school. Most of us look at computers and new technology as the latest way to spend our down time and relax. We are becoming lazy. Our whole lives have become encompassed by the world of quicker, more advanced technology. In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, he gives the reader a real sense of what our world may be coming to. I believe that if Ray Bradbury saw how my friends and I live our lives –and how they are revolved around technology–he would not be surprised at all about his findings. He would be very much relieved that his statements and beliefs were solidified in the way that we go about our everyday lives.…

Bill Gates once said that “never before in History has innovation offered promise of so much too so many in so short a time.” Technology has indeed brought about many improvements in the quality of people’s life such as efficiency, health, security and enjoyment. However, we cannot deny the harm modern technology has also brought us such as terrorist attacks and intrusion of work-life balance.
