A day in my life
A Day in My Life(Part2) Well last time I left off when I walked into my math class. I walk in on normal bases and then we have to start our (POD) problem of the day. After this we go over the POD and usually it is something that we have learned during the school year so far. So next up what happens is that we start to go over what we did homework the night before. Which is something that we have a lesson on the day before? So after that the teacher tells us to take out our dreaded textbooks and we all make sounds like “ahhhhh, and huh”. We have to use them for the whole entire tear no matter if we like it or not. The come with a bar code type number so u can’t switch with another book if u find a better one. Don’t even get me started with these books on how shooty and beaten up they are. Some of the books that we have received have been here since 1999. The book that I have is so torn up its front cover and back cover is so close to falling off. Well back to the math itself we are then told to a certain page and our teacher tells us to go to. This is usually the lesson that we will be learning for the day, as of right now we are working on geometry. So that means we are finding stuff like volumes, area, and perimeters of different shapes and there dimensions. Then we are told to do three questions just so the teacher could check for our understanding on what we know and what we know on the lesson. Which I am telling you the work is so easy it could just get up and walk away because we don’t need it, but some people don’t realize that. We then told to do like 15 more problems so the teacher could take grades, but we all know that’s just busy work. While we hurry up to do the work we are assigned we are all cracking jokes back and forth one by one quietly. So after the teacher finishes taking our grades we have to hurry up and go over our paper before the bell rings. As soon as we finish we are allowed to talk to the people around us until the bell rings. When

I thought it was going to be a normal day in first grade.. Boy was I wrong! We were learning about different plants and animals. And of course, insects. At the time, I went to an elementary school called Thunder Mountain Elementary, in Grand Junction. We were sitting in groups and the lights were off with the projector on. If I remember correctly, we were also taking notes. Our teacher, Ms. White was, well, teaching us. That’s kinda what teachers do. Maybe teachers do other things we aren’t aware of.. Nah. In second grade, teachers were like, Einstein and the smartest of mentors, not saying that people still don’t think that now. Teachers are awesome and have some of the best or worst stories to tell. But, before today, I didn’t really mind…

When they called us down for the assembly we went down class by class, and they were talking about the B.L.I.G.H.T (Big.Learning.Important.Georgia.Horrible.Test). During the assembly I was just doodling in my notebook until I drew a life like zombie picture of Principle Wright. Then Vice Principal Monk took the notebook and then 5 minutes later I was in the Principal's office.…

The bell rung again in another four minute interval, then 45 minutes of class, then another bell. She was going to Mrs. Rueger’s class. The bellringer was on the board. The questions were typical and easy because they have been doing them for a month now. Mrs. Rueger walked in with her nice, blonde, straightened hair and her black and white striped dress. She started off with signing the kids up with noredink.com and then taking a survey. That took up the whole class period for Sydney. She then went to orchestra, and they just sat there the whole time waiting to get their instruments. Then back to Mrs. Rueger to do conflict in literature. This is where they got their unforgettable homework. It was over conflict in literature. They then moved onto their narrative right when the bell rung. Sydney ran down the stairs to Mr. P. Jones’s class. They were working on geography like…

I did not remember how the conversation between teachers and parents stopped. The scene I still remember now is that we got out of the office silently, and every student walked with parents away in different directions. I did not know what would happen to them, but this was what happened to me. My parents and I got into the car and had remained silence for about five minutes. The time passed slowly, like as the time and air around me were freezing. Finally, the silence was broken at a waiting for a red…

In my experience in this course, I was taught and also came across many different concepts of becoming a math educator. By being a math teacher, to me it means that we must know and also process the information that is giving and taught to us as well. I have heard many individuals say the math is an easy subject to teach, because everything is written out for us educators step by steps. But, what they do not know it that this course takes time, and also require a little preparation and knowledge of the subject to teach the students how to perform well in this course. In this class it was viewed as a new experience, and when I referred back to my past math teachers it was brought to my attention that they actually understands how to do the math and in many different ways other than just what is in the book. I tend to do better and remember the math concepts longer when I am actually practicing on the assignments. It is easy to just write out the math problems steps from book or from a lesson plan, but to really take the time and to explain the steps in a way for all students to understand the problems takes practice and an understanding of the math ourselves. Becoming a math teacher takes time and it especially takes patience, because not all students will get the solution on the first try, so we as teachers, would have to make sure that they will grasp the concept before moving on to the next assignment. In other words we would have to recognize the student’s readiness or not readiness for the next step in math. So, we would have to put in a lot of time and effort for each student, even if that means continue to work with them before and after school to make sure they are getting what they are doing before moving on to the next. If a student does not understand how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide than how can the student be expected to understand…

Through all of the chaos, we made it to our stop, which happened to be the gym. We were all ushered into the bleachers so we could get briefed on our next 3 years in middle school. We all gladly took our seats and let the show begin. It was all a blur of boring and useless information. Now I wished I had listened to what they said, but oh well. When it was over we were removed from the gym and were told to go to our first core class. Getting there was very difficult. The rest of the day was filled with teachers telling us their expectations for the rest of the year, as well as boring information about…

Everyday I wake up and come into contact with objects and people of all nationalities, cultures and social class, which is sociological. Objects I see or use such as clothes, music, phone or even appliances that help me wake up (coffee of course) help me to start my day. Interestingly enough everyday life consists of human beings interacting with one another, their ideas, and emotions, which can be called sociology of identification. We recognize and participate sociologically with our family at home, our peers and employers at work and students at school.…

Understanding literacy in Math means more than just knowing the basic skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Mathematics is made of letters, numbers, symbols, and a vocabulary that form a language all its own. It is important for teachers to understand the complexities of Math and how to share strategies of learning for student success. Some research suggests a lack of prior knowledge and basic skills and others suggest a breakdown in the system. Regardless, student success is dependent upon…
