Returning to Dax’s Case, following only the brief time after his admission to hospital, there was never any doubt about his competence. He was an adult, rational, and fully conscious person. At the scene of the accident, he requested assistance in dying. As health care professionals, the paramedics considered that their own personal commitment to the duty to save lives was the right rule to follow, and we do not suggest otherwise. Concerning Dax’s desire to commit suicide, he requested that the means be given to him to fulfil his request, as he was not physically able to procure them on his own. There is no legislation that prohibits suicide. The problem seems to be that of involving another in an act that is deemed morally wrong. The US Supreme Court later recognise the legal right to informed refusal of treatment or life-sustaining interventions. For Dax that happened in 1993; 20 years after his ordeal had begun.…

During this counseling session, I portrayed strong empathy for Christina’s situation by how I continued to listen, asking Christina about her behaviors, and asking open-ended questions that describe how Christina is feeling. In regards to Christina’s behaviors, I knew how it felt to be frustrated and angry at my mother. There were times during my adolescent and early adult years where I did not agree with my mother’s choices and was frustrated with her because I wanted her to make the choices that were going to benefit her difficult situation or happiness. Based on my empathy, I knew how Christina was feeling about wanting to build a strong relationship with her mother and why she created a shield with her wings to block out classmates and…

"Bullied victims are 7 to 9 percent more likely to consider suicide according to a study by Yale University. Studies in Britain have found half of the suicides among youth related to bullying." I find it crazy that kids as young as eight years old are taking their lives because kids are mean to them for no reason. Kids at the age of eight to eleven should not even know what suicide is. Yet there are kids taking their lives by hanging themselves ad shooting themselves just so they don't have to go to school. This is Amanda's story of her cyber bullying and suicide. "On January 12, 2012 Amanda Diane Cummings, a 15 year old Staten Island youth, jumped in front of a bus. She carried a note on her that stated that classmates were constantly teasing…

That was then and this is now..... Tomorrow is Monday and just as every other Monday which has past over the last 6 months, Maybeline begs and pleads with tears in her eyes to her mom to let her stay at home and not go to school. Sadly there is a hundred and sixty thousand other children in America let alone in Australia or any other country for that matter, who feel just as Maybeline will tomorrow morning and that hundred and sixty thousand number alone is just the number of children who misses school on a daily basis because they suffer from the same illness as Maybeline Winter does. The girl with the bright smile and the cheerful personality now suffers from extreme anxiety and depression . She has been through and still very sadly goes through extreme abuse... abuse caused by fellow peers at her school, which has taken her self confidence and her sense of secuirity and left her with a life full of fear, sadness and loneliness.…
As I sat in the room, it was comfortable. There was a fire place to my left, a huge glass window behind me, pictures on the wall of rainforests and baby animals and two very comfortable sofa seats. There was a slight smell, an aroma of lavender, a candle burning in the corner and the perfect sound of silence. The door swung open, the sight of a large shadow became obvious and the sound of her voice was clear. “Good morning Alison” she said “My name is Julie and today I don’t want you to worry about anything that is said in this room, everything is totally confidential” I sat back in…
