Zero- sum game and non-zero are terms used to refer to situations where there are gains and losses. Non-zero sum game is where one decision gain or loss doesn't necessarily result in the others loss or gain. In this theory, the wins and loses, of all players do not add up to zero and everyone can win or lose. Commonly this is referred to as a “win-win situation” The common example given of this is the prisoner's dilemma, a situation where two people are committed a crime are being interrogated separately, they are given two choices that will create three outcomes. If prisoner 1 keeps his mouth shut and doesn't say anything but prisoner 2 tells everything, prisoner a will get the worst punishment while prisoner 2 walks free, and vice …show more content…
The reason is women, take a care based perspective approach. This perspective sees not individual problems but sees the overall situation and the problem it causes between the parties involved. The goal is to not decide the conflict one way or another but to eliminate it entirely, in a way that doesn't hurt anyone. This is relative to non-zero sum same in the way that, one winning doesn't mean the other losses, nor does one losing mean the other one wins. Women tend to not engage in risk taking, normally taking positions that result in winning odds. Women tend to want something at the end of the day, small, instead taking a bigger risk and not receiving anything. Men, take a justice based perspective this perspective sees any dilemma as a conflict between the two arguing parties, in which only one can be right. The solution doesn't resolve the conflict but more so is a final verdict. Such as zero sum game, one side gets everything and the other gets nothing. Initially, I looked at Dead Island and figured it would be a game only about killing zombies. I did not have an issue with the game, I just wanted to play it in order to see what it was about. I did not see any controversy that it could have caused. I did not see any controversy that it could have causes and I do not see how it would be fair to have an issue within the game. The controversy seemed to stem from the trailer where a female teen was thrown from a window. I believe that it is not fair, if it were a male teen, no one would mind. Most people would probably laugh, for some reason when it comes to girls, people believe we are too emotional, sensitive, and weak. It’s only a cartoon and it is not that serious, now if someone was mutilating her, I could see it as an issue. The criticism is unfair because we have heard of worse. The article states that it was a pre-teen zombie whose parent throw her out of a window. She was a zombie, would it have been better if the parent allowed her to stay? Would it have been…

Women are equal to men. Doesn't it balance out? Unfortunately in society, they aren't treated that way. One example of this is in the play 'Taming of the Shrew' as it displays women as the lesser sex, with male lead Petruchio placing a bet on his ability to 'tame' Katherine, a mean bat, but also his future wife.…

Women have a completely different view point then men. They aim to be accepted by others, they try to avoid conflict, and they tend to show that they understand what the other person is trying to say. For example, in chapter 6, Tannen begins to explain how in a comic, the two boys are fighting while a girl named Debbie is trying to be the peacemaker. She claims that she is looking for someone but the boys say that the person isn’t there. Even though she knows the person is there, she acts like she…

Women face many challenges that men did not have to face. In the early days of our country, it was a man’s world. Women served their men. They were not offered the same opportunities that men were. To some extent, this still exists today. Women don’t always receive equal pay for equal work as their male co-workers. That was true in the 1840’s when Elizabeth Blackwell became the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States. That shows amounts of moral courage that many of us could never achieve.…

Women have a loving nature they care for things and take care of them they are sweeter and more understanding when it comes too thought and emotion they treat people more kindly then men do that could make them soft in combat and them or someone else killed and they wouldn’t be able to kill someone that could get them or their platoon killed injured or captured. Being either a man or a woman in society today has certain advantages. Most people could identify situations where both men and women have the upper hand in various aspects of society. However, men seem to have the advantage in more aspects of life in the United States than women. Men have the upper hand over women in society in many ways. For example, men receive higher wages, get more promotions, are elected to higher political offices, and are thought of as strong and invincible. They also get less ridicule in the media and less emphasis is put on how they look and behave.…

The term zero-sum game is used when one party’s gain will be another’s loss therefore equalling a zero sum. A good example of this is slicing a pie, if one person takes a large slice there is less for everyone else. The gender ‘female’ goes through a lot of gender bias issues as men are favored in a lot of place, especially in the work field. Men and women are paid differently at the same level and status of work in an organization, which means that the income of a woman is less than that of a man. Not just this but also the way women are treated in the office or whatever their work place is. They lack opportunities, trust and most importantly the due respect. However, they are put to work much more than men.…

Back in the old days males did all the work while the females cleaned and cooked. The only reason I can think of for this happening was because males were built stronger and more muscular than females. However, this gave them no right to act as if they’re better than females. Back then woman couldn’t vote, or be any type of leader. In fact, woman couldn’t even fight for their countries! This competition exists even more today because females are becoming more equal to males. Nowadays woman can vote, run for office, run a company, and even go to war and it scares men so they work harder and try to prove they are better.…

But as I started researching more about my theory with Gilligan, who values the voice of girls and women’s, I learned that we women are more likely to make a decision based on care, personal connection and responsibility, while guys are more into the justice where they feel the need to be right about everything and finding a way to be right which is why often men don’t take a woman very serious. An example I could use to describe the justice for men would be when boys have a dispute during play, they actively resolve. Meanwhile girls quit playing when they have a dispute in order to protect the relationship with friends because they care for them. Another way to put in when a woman wants to have a baby but decides that having an abortion is…

Women statistically are more often the victims both men and women can be subject to domestic violence. Men may turn to violence due to the stresses and pressure to conform to the male conjugal role and need to be superior. Subtle but persistent social norms in the media, the workplace etc, have strong opinions on gender roles and an expectation which needs to be upheld. Whilst women are more likely to be psychologically abusive and threaten denial of abusive behaviour, or departure, both act on fear of loss. Children can often be a powerful weapon because most men know that divorce settlements are more likely to award custody to the women. Substance abuse is another factor which has a significant impact on domestic violence as it creates a hostile environment between family members aswell as altering the perception and judgement of the user.…
