If your friends were jumping off a bridge would you jump to? You have heard this saying at least once or twice in your life. Mainly because you have done something someone has disapproved of and your excuse was “well everyone else was doing it”. But actually you are responsible for your actions and shouldn’t be following the crowd. It’s important to determine what’s wrong and what’s right. Determining what’s wrong and what’s right in your own view is important because following the crowd isn’t always the best thing to do. Our dependency on people may blindly lead us to things we might not even know are wrong because we just go along with the crowd. In stores and other public places, groups of friends get together and steal while the others distract, and it makes you think, oh it is okay to steal because everyone else does it. But why do people follow other people blindly into bad situations? Well, most people follow others blindly without questioning their direction because people feel safe and comfortable following in a large number of people. If the groups of people you are around are people you are trying to impress, you may fall into peer pressure and that is not good. Under the effect of peer pressure many people find themselves following the crowed even if they aren’t sure that they are doing the right thing. If your group of friends offers you alcohol or drugs you might take them, because you are scared of what they think or might say. This could lead to alcohol or drug addiction your life and may even cause death.
Even though the crowed you may hang out with isn’t always a bad crowd, you should always think for yourself and do what you believe is the right thing to do. Following what you believe is right is more important that following the crowd, because following the crowd could be dangerous and in most cases the wrong thing to do.
